PETITION: PhaseONE CaptureONE PRO for Full Support of DNG
Hi everyone!
I recently started a petition asking PhaseONE CaptureONE PRO to fully support the DNG (digital negative) file format in their flagship RAW software converter called CaptureONE PRO (C1PRO).
I've briefly stated the reason(s) why and if you're a digital photographer who uses the DNG file format AND is a user of C1PRO, I urge and implore you to add your digital signature to the petition.

Thank you for your support and consideration.
With warmest sincerity,
Ron

Ronald,
As far as I can tell DNG is not an accepted "standard" other than within Adobe.
What exactly is your petition asking PhaseOne to do?

Ronald's request has been raised here earlier several times and Phase One staff joined the conversation as well. Bottom-line from what I understood is that what Ronald is asking for is proprietary to Adobe, and not part of the open standard which DNG pretends to be in the eyes of the public.
I understand the request and sympathize with the participants, but I am afraid the request is beyond an amount of man hours work of programming.0 -
DNG wouldn't be worth to me. 0 -
Ronald,
What your requesting, from a user standpoint, seems quite straight forward. However from a software standpoint it is far from it.
As we, Phase One, have already done the work to support files like Canon CR2's and Nikon NEF's (each individually given attention to build custom support) it seems redundant to then ALSO build support for the same files but with the Adobe DNG "twist". Each one of these DNG file types would need to have support built for it once more (ex. CR2+DNG, NEF+DNG, etc) to provide the "full" support.
There are many cameras out there that have yet to have support in Capture One. Many of these are currently our priority for file support within Capture One as appose to building another type of support for cameras we have already taken to time to support.
I appreciate what you are requesting and it would wonderful if it were an easy implementation. Perhaps in the future we will have a solution that can work completely but at present, the basic DNG support for Adobe DNG is the best we can do as it supports the common information that is in all Adobe DNG files but, for the reasons listed above, has to ignore the specific information unique to each file. It is that specific information that would allow for the "full" support you are requesting in which case we would simply request you use the original RAW file in Capture One as appose to an edited RAW format0
