Export Renaming
I am fairly new to C1 which is absolutely fantastic, really wished I would have made the switch a long time ago. I have been using the same naming convention for a long time being yyyymmddoriginalfilesequence_Event (i.e 201804226537_Event) I have ran into a bit of an issue with being able to keep the original file sequence out of the camera and ditch the prefix/underscore (i.e NEF_6537) while exporting using tokens. The closest token I can find is the File Name but not just the number itself. I am not sure if I am just not seeing the correct token or am just missing something altogether. Did some digging online couldn't find anything either. I seem to be stumped.

File name is the complete file name so you have not missed anything in that respect.
If you cannot (or do not wish to) control the prefix in the camera (some cameras allow it, others not) then the best immediate solution is probably to fit a rename into your workflow somewhere.
Based on what you have written, a rename after export where you replace the NEF_ part of the name with nothing (?nothing) should do the trick and very quickly.

I thought of controlling the prefix in camera but Nikon doesn't want to play nice on that front. Not sure about my Fuji. I am interested in the trying to replace the prefix with nothing. How would I go about that? Are you talking about in C1 or other software?0 -
C1.
Have a look at the Batch rename functionality form the File menu.
To make it active you need to have pre-selected more than one image to create a batch!
As they are output files there are a number of other ways of running batch renames I would imagine, but the C1 function should work well.
You'll want the "Find and Replace" method.
Another Mac user (I'm windows) will probably have a suggestion for the same functionality outside C1.

Have you considered using a program like Photo Mechanic? I do all of my renaming on import using PM and it offers great flexibility in naming conventions. 0 -

That did work and looks like might be my best option. Also works on the raw files but I would like to keep those as untouched as much possible for achieving. Thanks a lot for your help Grant, much appreciated.[quote="digger1914" wrote:

I used Photo Mechanic for all my metadata for years when I was shooting PJ and sports. At this point I wouldn't have enough need to buy it again but more importantly I don't want to really add another step in my workflow. I had thought of using Bridge in the same way but it would mean opening other software. Sounds silly perhaps but I want to stay as streamlined as possible. Due to shooting PJ I am really big proponent of templates to not have to do too much repetition in my workflow. Also as I said above I like to keep the raw files as untouched as possible. Photo Mechanic really is great though just not for me anymore.0 -

You're welcome. Glad it seems usable.
Several people have asked the same question in the time this functionality has been around (2 or 3 years now, from memory).
I would not disagree that it could be useful to be able to strip parts of the file name (or whatever) on export although I don't use that myself.
If you raise a Support Case and ask for the change as an Enhancement Request for the Token system the request count for such a change will be increased and its popularity may possibly lead to the Development team introducing the functionality at some point. Assuming technical feasibility it probably just needs added popularity to find its way to development plan top requests.
