Nikon D2x SDK for C1 - who is to blame?
Just had a very interesting phone call with Nikon Germany concerning the integration of the Nikon D2x in C1.
The said the necessairy SDK files are freely available since quite some time from Nikon Amsterdam and they do not understand why PhaseOne is NOT intergrating it in their C1 software.
Quite honestly I am a little p....ed about the fact that we, the pros, are always the ones begging for the basics just to get a decent workflow with many camera systems and the manufacturers behind the softwares and/or cameras are limping around.... 😡
So please, who ever is to blame, give yourself a kick and just DO IT!
Thanks
Nicolas

With all SDK's there is a licens agreement.
The licens agreement Nikon has made is quite strict where by integration was not possible when the licens agreement terms was unacceptable from our part.
However last I have heard is that is has been changed and status around this subject is changing.0 -

that at least sounds promising...
But you keep yourself "covered"... will there be an integration soon? After next release? For several reasons Canon cameras were never an option, but I hope I do not have to change my opinion....
thanks

yes, you are missing something... 😉
I am talking about tethered shooting! Uploading the NEF files is no problem though. But C1 is not yet supporting tethered shooting...
Using Nikon Capture4 is a drag: takes to long till pics appear on the screen and other issues...
cheers Nicolas
@ PhaseOne: what is the status? Is the support for Nikon D2x in progress?0 -
Tethered... as in on a FWire cable ?
Why not do Wireless with the WT2/2a ?

I have no clue whether WIFI works but it definitively does not work directly with C1.
I do know that tethered (USB, FW) is NOT being supported (yet) 😡
Nikon Capture4 is useless. If you are looking at the \"speeds\" I get even with the P25 and C1, Nikon software remains not even to be mentioned...
I am still praying that soooonest PhaseOne will aquire the licence from Nikon to directly support the D2x...
cheers Nicolas0 -
Jesus H Chri5t !
That is unbelievable.
So our option would be to allow WIFI to beam images to folders only on OSX ?
Then after its all over kick off C1 and BEGIN the processing stage ?
At present we use CF's to move images and then are able to process the models own talent shots while they get changed ... and hand them a CD as they skip out the door.
Would WIFI reduce the workflow that much ??0 -
If Nikon D2X can do tethered in C1 Pro 4. It would be the best present from PhaseOne to Nikonians. I'm waiting for that day 😊 0
