    A few questions.

    (1) When you navigate to the folder where the backups should be, do you see the backup file there?

    (2) Are you not able to open the actual catalog (not the backup of it)?

    (3) Do you also have a system backup (Time Machine or similar) that includes backing up the Capture One catalog?

    Hello Ian,

    1) yes, I can see the backup-files - I was even able to navigate to it (a screenshot function would be nice here-I have one, showing the path at the top of that screenshot-window taken)
    2) yes, I am NOT able to open the catalog. Backup might be able to get opened, what I know from an earlier experience.
But to open a backup file was not recommended at that time.
    3) Not till now - a time machine backup is done quite unregular, because I have most important files on external HDs.
System-backups, I have one time machine backup since I advanced to Mojave but there´s no reliable C1-backup.
Since then a lot happened in that C1 catalog.

Anyway I dropped that crashed catalog in the meantime - I must keep on and can not wait one or two days before
getting any respond from support. That´s the reason I choose to ask the forum, which is quite better/faster/asking the right questions so far. I started a new catalog and at the moment I am importing into this my new ordered files.

    Thanks and Kind Regards,
    Uwe

I am able, unfortunately, to keep on with this issue. I started a new catalog as mentioned above. I imported some folders with images included. This catalog now can not be opened regular, so started to let it do from the backup. Almost finally I get the message, that the backup was successful - clicking "open" and it fails again to open that catalog. It´s really bad to not be able to add images/screenshots here, BTW.
However, I am able to open the backup file. It works as expected. As of this reading the only way get the catalog again from the backup - I start/open a new catalog and import the backup into that new catalog. Takes quite a while but better than nothing (or better as a mouthful of pins, as we say in swabian Germany 😄 ).
This backup stuff is ridiculous anyway.

Has one any thoughts to this? I am wondering if it is a specific file, which causes that error for the whole catalog: works one day and fails the next morning?

    Kind Regards,
    Uwe
