Capture 1 LE and Nikon D70
Hi folks,
Please excuse my total ignorance, if that turns out to be the case, but I'm a rank newbie here and couldn't readily see the answer to my query.
I have a Nikon D70 and shoot solely in RAW.
Up to now I have used Rawshooter as its free, knowing Capture 1 was probably better but not being able, however cheap, to justify the expense.
Talking to a friend earlier, however, he said that the previous LE versions are free to download, are 100% compatable with my D70 and indeed don't need a serial to run off, so basically once you've downloaded and set up, even after the 15 day trial has ended I can carry on using.
Is he right, and if so, which version(s) should I be looking at getting.
I've downloaded 3.7.1 as a trial and its great, but it will self destruct after 15 days....correct??
Many thanks

fmt,
We offer a Free Trial period of 15 Days for the LE version and 30 Days for the PRO version of Capture One. Once a Trial Period expires, images can no longer be Processed. Also, once a Trial Period has been installed on a machine, irregardless of the version, you cannot run another Trial Version on that machine.
Support for the D70 was available with version 3.5.2 LE
There have been great improvements since then to the recent version of 3.7.3 LE of which the most revered being Unlimited Batch Processing.
Not much is truly FREE in this World, and certainly not our software. A whole lot of effort, research, and development has gone into Capture One to make it the absolute best RAW image processing software available and this is an ongoing effort.
If / When you shot film in the past, did you just put any old type of film into your camera? ...maybe whatever was on Sale or Free? Or did you expect more and want better images and chose a film worthy of your camera?
Shooting RAW is the only way to go these days.
RAW image files give you the most data possible from your D70. Now, why not get the best image possible from your camera and use Capture One rather than something that is Free ? ! 😉
Cheers,
kc0
