FOCUS TOOL PLEASE
Again and again,
as a professional digital assistant, like many of my collegues, I can tell PhaseOne developers that we need the Focus Tool opened while shooting, like in 3.7.9 and like all other software for tethered shooting.
Professional photographers need to know the focus as fast as they get the image on screen. Without the Focus Tool we cannot give them a real and fast report on the situation.
Please understand that this is a BASIC function, that you had in the previous major release and we are waiting years to have it!!!
Thank you.
Alan

I agree,
Especially for people who make artwork reproductions. The uniform light tool was also very useful....0 -
Forgive me if I am missing something here but I use an open Viewer window in the exact same way as the I used the Focus tool. The only difference I have noted is that I finally have the capability to reduce the image in this "focus" viewer window below 100% - a feature I had always wished for in the old version. 0 -

Can only agree and second this. Please take this view and other observations voiced previously into consideration.0 -
Opening up another window is not the same, The original focus tool allowed you to quickly position it on the eyes or wherever you need to keep an eye on the focus as you shoot. This has been brought up over and over since they were even beta testing and at one time it was supposedly coming but never did. I agree it really needs to be implemented.
It feels like when designing the new version from scratch, not enough attention was paid to what was working well in version 3. I can live with most of the changes, but this is very important for work flow.0 -

Sorry, but it's not same as having a small window on the left and a FAST cursor that can pick any area of the big image on the right, totally different way of working, without the mess you have with the two windows.
Ciao

I totally agree!!! PhaseOne developers simply don't want to listen to professionals.
Don't know why.

Yes please.
It is said so many times - but it seems to be ignored - among so many others things.
Actually i have the feeling phase one did find out that there are ways more amateurs than professionals so they focus on them to make more money - i only read posts saying that they are happy with c1pro4 from those that work not in a stressy advertising surrounding or in a semi professional way.
It seems they dont take us serious or important anymore. Please phase one - understand that those who shoot weddings are maybe not the ones who needed the pro version (without downgrading those!!!! - but it is a different workflow they have).
There are just a view things that are really messed up now:
Focus Tool
Session Management
Importing Images from CF Cards
Applying Adjustments to other pictures
Contrast/Exposure/Saturation Adjustments over keyboard shortcuts
Adjusting a pictures in the RGB channels seperatly
I as digital tech are one of the lowest paid peoples on the set - but i am one of the guys whith the highest liability. Having a PROFESSIONAL capture surrounding is a major importance for me and all the other digital techs out there.0
