Major archiving bug with Canon 1DsMkII in C1 3.6 / 3.7rc
Hi,
I'm experiencing major bug with archive settings option.
It happens with my Canon 1DsMkII .CR2 files in both C1 3.6 and 3.7rc.
Since version 1.2.x and my old EOS 10D I have a habit of archiving settings for all my files.
The problem is that I'm having difficulties regarding restoring archived 1DsMkII settings.
When I individually select a file and choose \"restore from archive\" option and load the archived settings, everything seems fine until I go to the \"Process\" tab...
Scaling % still reads 100, but the pixel dimensions are multiplied by two and the estimated file size is accordingly four times larger!
If I try to develop this image, nothing happens - it only disappears from the batch window and I only get a .tmp file in the destination folder.
It has the estimated size in MB that developed TIFF should have.
I tried this:
1) I select a single file in a fresh, never opened collection
2) without doing any corrections, I immediately go to the \"save to archive\" option
3) immediately after this I go to \"restore from archive\" option
4) in \"Process\" tab I suddenly get doubled output dimensions, ...but Scaling reads 100%
5) if I do the \"restore from archive\" thing again, file dimensions will double again, becoming four times the original size... repeating \"restore\" in sequence will cumulatively double dimensions each time, but Scaling always stays at 100%!
6) developing will produce only .tmp file.
I also noticed that if I select all images in a collection, using \"select all\" and then click the \"restore from archive\" restoring all of them, only the first image is affected, others keep their pixel dimensions and can be developed normally. But... If for some reason I try to load the settings for the second time, the first image is quadrupled and the others are doubled!
Temporary (I hope) workaround:
In every folder of RAW images that will become a collection, I copy as old as possible .CR2 file so that it sits on the top of the collection when it is opened in C1. It doesn't have any connection to the other files and It doesn't even have archived settings on its own.
This way when I do \"select all\" and then click the \"restore from archive\", the first file is not important and I can trash it, but other files that are important are OK, having restored settings. I just have to be careful to avoid the need to restore settings for the second time, since it will screw everything!
Is any other 1DsMkII user having this or similar experience?
I'm asking 1DsMkII users, since my old EOS 10D files are OK.
Loading old 10D work files from C1 1.x.x versions is fine and saving and restoring in 3.7 also works perfectly. So maybe all other cameras are fine and only 1DsMkII users are doomed ☹️
It is extremely annoying, preventing me from having a hassle free workflow.
I didn't post this when I used the 3.6 version, hoping that somebody at Phase One must have noticed it. I mean, 1DsMkII is such an important camera 😊
But, it seems that this bug is here to stay... at least for now.
If needed, I can email one .CR2 file with its archived settings, so that you can try replicating the problem.
Thanks,
Aleksandar
PS Why is naming changed for work files? It is so cryptic! In old versions, work and preview files had RAW file names in them, so they could be easely organized and copied without having to go to C1 and load the RAW files.
