Network 2 computers while shooting 4.8.3
I'm trying to set up a 2 computer shooting system for the first time with C1v4. I've don't it int he past with v3 successfully. I'm able to open the session on each computer and see the images as they come in, but the adjustments from the tether computer are not showing up on processing computer.
I also keep getting this error "The document “test2.col45†could not be saved. Could not merge changes." and "This document’s file has been changed by another application since you opened or saved it."
What should I be doing differently?
Thanks

The problem might be the fact that you have created and opened a session on both computers with the same name and pointing into the same location. This gives a conflict in writing to the session file (*.col45 file).
You might also have a conflict with 2 computers writing to the adjustments file, but this I am not sure of.
Lets assume you store the images locally on the tethering computer and open these files over the network with the second - processing - computer (can be reversed as well).
First suggestion I can come up with is to separate both sessions. Either give different session names on both computers (add a suffix -1 and -2 or -t and -p) or open the files on the second computer from a session that is local on that computer but with the capture folder not relative to that session (you in fact neglect the session concept on the second computer but work from the default session instead for example).
Test as follows. First tether some images, close CO4, start the other computer and open images. Next, repeat but keep CO4 on tethering computer running.0 -
Thanks. I've got the images showing up on both machines while shooting, but I don't get the adjustments.
For example I'm shooting with a DSLR set the white balance in the first image the use "Copy from last" under next capture adjustments. The image's white balance it correctly adjusted on the tether computer, but the native white balance on the process computer. The same goes for exposure adjustments as well. If I navigate away from the shared capture folder and come back some of the images will get the adjustments, but I have to close C1 on the process computer and restart it before all the adjustment will show.0 -
It is clear from your description that CO4 was not designed to have two computers work on the same image file, including adjustments, at the same time. Not an uncommon design, I would say by the way. Surprising it worked nicely with CO3 (undocumented feature?). I am afraid you have to change your workflow.
As a backgrounder, I noticed the CO4/Mac (CO4/Win is different) caches image adjustment information as long as a folder is opened. It only writes adjustments to disk when I close the folder (i.e. select another), close session or close CO4 (this may not be a 100% accurate description, just an observation). For your setup to work the tethering computer should - as a master - immediately write to disk any change and the second processing computer - as a slave - should be aware of any change on disk and refresh accordingly.
