8.2 viewer image quality
Hi,
Just upgraded from 8.1 – Images in the viewer looked perfectly crisp both at fit and 100% magnification.
The quality in 8.2 is not as good: 100% looks a bit over sharpened/pixelated and at "fit to screen" they are lack any bite whatsoever.
Thinking about the if the new bumped image preview size has anything to do with this. Tried regenerating the previews at 5120px, didn't help.
Sitting on a Macbook pro 15" Retina, mid 2014.
Anybody else having this issue?

Just to be absolutely clear, the images actually looks pixelated at "fit" magnification.
In 8.1 it took a couple of seconds to load through 3 "steps"; the images shifted from really pixelated to smooth to crisp and really high quality. Now it just don't reach the same quality after it loaded completely.
Images in question are from a Sony RX1r.

Cannot confirm that observation (MB 15 Retina late 2013). Either in 100% or in Fit-magnification, the previews show details as someone can expect, no pixelation. 0 -
Hmmm, bummer. Might try a reinstall then... 0 -

As a simple reinstall of the program seldom helps (yes, sometime it does), a full uninstall-install cycle does more often cure an issue. Instructions can be found here:

Thanks for the reply.
I found the bug i think. If I, in (system) display preferences set scaled display – more space, the images is pixelated. If left to default everything is good. Must be some dpi discrepancy between the system and capture one which was not present in 8.1?

Seems to be related to this issue (acknowledged and ready for repair)

Thanks Paul. Seems it might be. Hope they solve it. My workbins and buttons are huge now 🤓 0 -
This:

is not the same issue as the thread infers and requires escalating properly via the support channel so we can get your logs and system profile/hardware config for proper testing.
If you have not done so already please run the file packager script from the scripts menu inside Capture One to make a log zip, then contact us via support.phaseone.com and attach the logs along with screen grabs illustrating the issue. We will then put a test rig together and try to reproduce for R+D to fix.
I'm sorry I can't do more to help you via the forum.0 -
Same issue here
After upgrading to CO 8.2 this same strange bug is compromising my workflow.
I`m using a mid 2014 macbook pro 13 (yosemite), connected to a a 21 inch Eizo monitor.
When I launch and use CO 8.2 WITHOUT being connected to the external monitor, all is well.
When connected to the Eizo external monitor, the viewing of the images becomes unprecise with "jagged edges". Also the crop tool behaves in a awkward way.
I´ve indeed noted that changing the resolution in system preferences to “default†instead of “scaledâ€, solves this issue. But now the problem is that I have distorted images on the viewer aside from the fact that desktop itens are huge.
So, not a proper solution.
As noted capture one pro 8.1 worked flawlessly, with the same monitor, at the scaled resolution.
While this is not solved, Is there a way of downgrading to 8.1?
Thanks,
Paulo0 -
In the interim, while they fix this bug, it may or may not be an option for folks struggling with scaled resolutions on retina displays... rather than choose "Best for Display" which is the 2:1 retina resolution where everything is large, you could try the native resolution.... this may make things unwantedly small, but it's an option you may prefer over having everything large. On a MacBook you need SwitchResX to enable the full native resolution... http://www.madrau.com/index.html 0 -

Yes, download and install 8.1 or 8.1.1
Download archive location: http://www.phaseone.com/Downloads/Mater ... chive.aspx
Note that 8.2 updates any session and catalog database but the previous one is backed up. Rename the db file and it should work.0 -
Paul,
Done!
Thanks for your help.

Update: 8.2.1 fixed it for me. Happy as hell 😊 0
