ImgCoreSocket error

I have tried two full, clean installs of C1 4, and each of them has yielded the same error (see subject). I had the same problem in the last version of the beta. The previous beta version worked fine. To be more specific, I install C1 4, I get the flash screen, I can activate, and then after a short delay I get the ImgCoreSocket error (something about a host not responding in time or the like). I have uninstalled my wireless (which seemed to dislike C1 4beta) to ensure it is not that. I have removed remaining registry items. I would, sincerely, love to get a response that will help to eliminate this error.

I don't have a screenshot of the error, I posted one before, and got no response, so I'm afraid at this moment in time I'm not going to restart my PC to get a screenshot if I'm not going to get any response from Phase One. If someone from Phase One requests a screenshot, or further details, I will be more than happy to assist in that instance.

    You have one out of two problem

    1. You are using a aggressive software firewall which is blocking Capture One from contacting imgcore through the loopback interface on your network card (127.0.0.1)
    2. Much more simple, you are trying to process a none supported linear DMG file.
    Try processing a standard RAW file instead, like CRW, CR2, NEF, RAF or which ever type your camera is producing.

    I tried to monitor my firewall, but could not see where C1 was trying to get through. Could you advise what needs to be pacified on the firewall, please.

    More specifically, which ports is it attempting to go through, so that I can set up my firewall to allow it to do so.

    I am getting a different kind of this error. I have been using C1-4 just fine for awhile now after upgrading from version 3. It opens just fine each time if I am connected to the internet. If I am not connected to the internet, I get the ImgCoreSocket error every time. Why should it do this? I activated version 4 when I installed it, and according to what the Phase One response is, I should only get this error before the initial activation. I really don't want to have to be connected to the internet every time I open C1.......so what can I do to get rid of this glitch?

    I can be disconnected from the internet and I'm still able to launch C1. If I set the rules in my firewall (I'm using the built in Vista firewall but controlling it via the Vista Firewall Control frontend) to allow only incoming connections for 'CaptureOne.exe', it still launches. If I deny 'CaptureOne.exe' and/or 'imgcoreprocess.exe' via the firewall then I get the following error.

    I am using Windows XP and ZoneAlarm. If I set ZA to "Stop All Internet Activity", I cannot open C1 4 without the above stated problem happening. Why should I have to be connected to the internet at all just to use C1 4?

    Hi Steve,
    Well, that is the obvious assumption.....but, in anything I have read from PhaseOne, you only have to be authorized to use it when you activate it.......after that, there is no reason to reauthorize it. This would mean that there is no way to use the program on a computer at home that is not connected at all to the internet.......sort of defeats the purpose of working on photos off line.

    Does Zone Alarm log blocked packets addressed to the loopback adapter when you enable "Stop All Internet Activity"?
