Your wishes for future versions of CO
- responsiveness: I want an instantly redrawn image, that doesn't go out of focus when you do an adjustment. Otherwise you can't really see what you are doing in that image fog. This is a big issue for me.
This is my key issue. I cannot work with CO 4 as it is now.
Could you imagine working with Photoshop if it blurred the image every time you touched a tool? No way!

A version with a cleaner and better interface and how about this little request...a version that does NOT crash on me everyday while using it! I have zero recollection of version 3 ever doing this hardly as much and still am wondering what happened and why it changed SO drastically with what I feel is no significant improvements. Any improvements seem pointless when you do not have a stable piece of software. It is all still very frustrating to be honest. 0 -

I would love to see user customizable brightness of the interface. It's simply too dark for color critical work. Too, you are getting tired much faster... it's stressful for the eyes. The new proof margin improves things significantly, still I'd like to brighten the interface (and therefore reduce its contrast).
The V3 windows version was the most comfortable interface IMO... mid grey. Boring as hell and for this very reason so nice to work with.how about this little request...a version that does NOT crash on me everyday while using it!
I honestly have no problems with stability. Not when working in "big" sessions (500 P45 files) and not when working tethered. But there is so much talk about instability so obviously there's something wrong. Maybe just on older machines, I don't know.0 -

Hi thowi
in C1 501 preference tab:
http://mnclaris.free.fr/forum/c1pref.jpg
you may choose bg as black/dark/medium grey/light grey/white…
Is this what you were looking/hoping for?0 -

no, actually I referred to the entire interface. I always set the light background. Still the interface is distracting and tiring.

Things like this really aren't much help.
If the rest of you could create support cases voicing your concerns, in detail, for future versions we can have better documentation for reference with our R&D department. The more of the same requests we collect, the better chance we have of justifying the man-hours for implementing the features/changes. We're always listening and the more constructive feedback we get the better it is for everyone.0 -

Drew, somehow understandable. But don't you have your own vision and "to do" list for the software?

When 20 people ask for "red eye" correction will you implement it? Rather than any other feature/tool that only just a few people happen to ask for? Maybe just beacuse they don't want to create support cases or do not communicate through the internet at all?
Too, do you collect all the enquiries made over the time or do we have to re-create support cases for certain feature requests?
As to the interface I remember there were a lot of people moaning about the dark V4 interface from the very beginning (beta of V4.0). I don't see the necessity to copy former feature requests after every upgrade... especially when upgrades come every 3 weeks.
Heck, even the freeware IrfanView (Windows) has a custumizable interface (at least the brightness level is adjustable). "Viewing" is one of the most important properties in an imaging software IMO.
No critizism here actually... just wondering.0 -

Thowi,
Lot's of people moan on the forum but if they can't be bothered to create a support case then perhaps their concern is not a priority. We always have our own "to do" list, it's long and thorough but without feedback from customers how do we ensure we're on the right path? We need that feedback to stay on course and that feedback needs to be collected in a proper way as appose to forum chatter.
Think of the relationship as 70/30, 70% is our "to do" list and 30% is user inspired "realignment".
So, if 1 person says they need red eye reduction on the forum we hope they make a case so it can be documented officially. If 20 people say they need red eye reduction and they all make cases we have a good reason to believe its a matter worth taking seriously and it goes on our "To Do" list. If 200 people say they need red eye reduction and they all make cases, my guess is it will be bumped up that list pretty quickly. This is why the Focus Tool is back in Capture One 5 as it was in Capture One 3, users created support cases and let us know it was something they couldn't live without.0 -
my biggest issue is the completely unnecessary "pause" function on "autoselect new caputre - immediately"
There is absolutely no need to pause it automatically if you are not on the last image. If I don't want the new image come up I can simply stop it but don't want it to pause automatically - not only that it's not necessary, it's a pain in the neck.
Please get rid of it. Am I the only one who is bothered by that?
cheers

A really nice feature - a small thing, but one I used ALL the time - to bring back from version 3 would be to have a small symbol at the bottom of the Library tab that you can simply click, when a folder is live, to set that folder as the Capture Folder. One to set a folder as a Favourite, too. You don't have to reset folders as the MoveTo, Output or Trash very often, so these are ok in hidden menus, but all the right-clicking (on a Mac trackpad layout) or pulling down of menus to make these simple, and repetitive Capture Folder and Favourite settings, is really clunky when you do these things over and over and over again throughout the day! I know you can set it so that folders are automatically made Favourites as soon as you move away from them, but I want them to be Favourites straight away. Why wait?! Maybe a preference that commands every new folder created within a session be made a Favourite immediately, but I realise that may be asking a bit too much!
I'll create a support case . . .
Cheers

So far I have been very happy with CO1V5. But I have a couple of requests:
1) Improve the load time for pictures in the browser. I have done all of the recommended tunings, but for folders larger than a hundred images or so, it takes a while to load. A little frustrating when switching between folders.
2) Sliders similar to Lightroom's Fill and Clarity
Best Regards,

LOL ok, my bad, well, its still slow, and laggy. adjustments and navigation is not smooth and fluid, its jittery and takes a moment to render. Seriuosly, why does Lightroom seem to be able to fly through adjustments and images as fast as you can do them, but C1 cannot? Another thing, creating a web contact sheet, crashes everytime on me. I know you list it in your known issues, but why is that even an issue to begin with? You offer no solution or resolution time other than that fact that you say yeah, we are aware of it. Doesnt make it ok. What if Adobe released a version of photoshop and the brush tool didnt work, and they just said, yeah, known issue, sorry. Kind of leaves you feeling a bit frustrated when you want to make a contact sheet for a client. I can use the software to edit a shoot, but if I need to create the proofs and web gallery to show them, I cant becasue the program will fall flat on its face if I go there? If the last new car you bought, you got it home and couldnt pop the trunk open, and called the dealership and said yeah , that parts broken on these cars, after you just bought it, what would you think? Take the car back and fix it right? Its little details like that that make me hesitant to spend a premium on your software. I like your software, I really do, and I want it....but I want it just about as much as I would want a vintage Ferrari. Great car, but finicky as hell. 😉0 -
If you experience general slowdown of Capture One you should check that you do not have lots of images in the session trash (in particular if your session trash is on a network drive). If you do, try deleting them permanently if possible by using File > Delete Permanently or File > Empty Session Trash 0 -
Are you attempting to create a web contact sheet using JPGs? 0 -
I'd like support for alpha channels / transparency in the overlay images. Maybe an option to select black or white as transparent.
And I hope to see a vast improvement in the tethering functions.
I can't get my live preview to show the full composition in the main window.
And when at 100% it often jumps around.
v5 is great in many ways but on location I still prefer v3.
Personally I think there should be a separate refined and minimalist application dedicated to the capture side; Fast to open and a simple one page toolset.
Here's a dream request: Live preview for the iphone / itouch.0 -

Yes I am, why that doesnt work? I guess thank goodness I have Bridge and LR right, ohterwise what would I have had done?0 -
i stay with Klaus30 about automatic pause (autoselect new capture), why?
i work as digital tech and is annoying and frustrating for me to select it over and over!
another thing that i really miss is the "custom target colors" from version 3
nobody answered me about that; they just did it once trying to convince me that you can manage it with the new curve and level tools in separate colors: drew and paul, it means that i have to consider this feature gone?
Paolo10 -
Klaus30 and Paolo1 if you don't like "Auto Pause" , then please create a support case. Personaly I find 'Auto Pause' to be a huge headache, my clients complain every shoot. PhaseOne takes support cases seriously and ignores this forum. The only way to let the programers know which features you like or don't like is if you create a support case. 0 -
For me there's really only 1 major thing C1 lacks: local exposure control, or dodging and burning if you will. Currently, I often have to create 2 outputs of the same file, one for the sky or a bride's dress, and one for everything else, then combine them in Photoshop. Usually a simple exposure brush would have done the trick and save me a ton of time. If C1 got something like the (Lightroom does after all) I'd be elated! 0 -
CO5 is great and I like a lot.
I know that my request could be hard... my dealer told me that an hour of program it cost a lot... and you don't want make a competittion to Adobe
But It could be better if:
- Possibility the line correction of the architectural pictures without open photoshop
- Possibility to make double exposure: I have a light client that use several lamp: Neon Tungsten ecc. When there are several different colors of light, with film I changed the filter in front the lens. with the slide the black is not exposed, in Digital is not possible impression on the black...At the end I get to my client a slide with all the light belanced, i would like give a correct file without open photoshop and spend a lot of time that nobody pay me.
- Color editor selective not only with color but in an area too. If I need to correct a red object in the left of the pics some time I don't need correct a red object in the right.
- Possibility the inversion tool in negative, I would like use my DB to scan my negatives, not only the slides.
-Zoom preview faster
- Print from CO and make Contact scheet for print too not only web
- possibilty to have some film effects like BW TriX grain etc...
Thank a lot for you work if I sould have more money I will buy P65 a great DB!
sorry for my english.0
