It is well known and mentioned quite frequently that going from one major release to the next one your sessions and catalogs needs to be upgraded. Capture One is not damaging your old work.[quote="CAPTURE NIKON D700" wrote:

If you don't care it is not Capture One's fault and this is a quite common approach to maintain stability and usability.[quote="CAPTURE NIKON D700" wrote:

Yes, if you plan not to upgrade right away than your way is correct.

Session? Catalog? Or both?[quote="CAPTURE NIKON D700" wrote:

So it's about sessions. What's the problem? Make a copy and open the copy in v10.[quote="CAPTURE NIKON D700" wrote:

Nothing damaged here.[quote="CAPTURE NIKON D700" wrote:

Just replace the session database with the backup v10 created during upgrading.
Sure, this will not undo any file moving, deleting, importing...
But if it's just a copy of the original session, delete this testing session.[quote="CAPTURE NIKON D700" wrote:

It doesn't make sense (to me) to test all the features I could possibly use on my actual work or something I finished and want to keep. So I would never use anything but a copy to test a new software, version, or dot version.[quote="CAPTURE NIKON D700" wrote:

Done.
Should I see something special?

User error - pure and simple.0 -
hallo users,
i am testing C1 10 with C1 9 sessions on the same machine,
the problem i think is inside my capture folders, not in the .cosessiondb
normally i made a new session folder in C1 10 Demo. i point it to a old session folder,
i played around on some pictures then i de installed it from my mac.
i never changed the Phase one engine from 9 to 10. i delate the new c1 10 session and
opened the old Session.cosessiondb backe with C1 9,
way damaged because i couldn't show my original Image state back and the croup function is also blocked.
this happens only with images that i edited inside 10 before..
don't matter ...i will keep using C1 9.
i suggest every one should thing how to use this PRO software as he like. with no error.
i thing there are some kind confusing when working with Sessions or catalog bei PHASE ONE, i thought that all setting stuff been normally saved only inside the .cosessiondb and not outside " CAPTURE FOLDER" but .. this is only my thoughts..
thanks guys..0 -

All setting stuff? In a session workflow,
+ session data and settings are stored in the <name>.cosessiondb
+ image adjustments, masks, LCCs are stored as sidecar information
That's how CO works in sessions.
Outside 'Capture Folder'?
If the images are in the "Capture Folder', sidecar information is in there, too.
BTW, I upgraded a CO9 session, edited some images in v10, replaced the cosessiondb with it's backup. Opened with v9 again, and everything is as if I never upgraded. There's just a new Settings100 subfolder for the sidecars.

Too late for me - I now have a useless paid license for Pro 9.3 that I can no longer open and use (due to the Pro 10 trial needing to "upgrade" my catalog), and, a massive and mysterious memory draw coming from Pro 10 that makes that trial program freeze. Tech Support is trying to help but I am currently at a standstill, and looking for a new software company. This is the second time I have had a major catalog corruption and other Capture One issues. I may be forced to walk away and find a competing RAW processing software, unfortunately. And I used to be such a fan and advocate for Capture One - but not any longer.0 -
Well you can still revert to your catalog backup, can't you? 0 -

\No, not so far, as the "instructions" that tech support sent to me aren't clear enough for my old mind to understand. I have tried to follow the recovery instructions for my old image catalog, but so far no luck. So, Pro 9.3 will not open for me at all, and Pro 10 trial freezes and drains 99% of my computer's memory.0
