    Playing devil's advocate...

Scenario 3: You realize that you want a medium format solution that offers a complete solution of hardware, software, and support, and buy a Phase One or Mamiya Leaf system.

While that might make sense from a marketing point of view. It is highly improbable that some one looking at a 645Z will be interested in a Phase one. I mean there is a big difference in price.645z people are looking to spend 8/8k on a complete system. You guys start at over 40k for comparable sensor.
I would think that the contrary might be true, welcome the 645z customers and then show them the difference (if any...) in your product and convince them that if they spend 3X as much they might get 3 times as much greatness in image quality.

No doubt... Phase One offers the best MF system out there.... the IQ backs are extraordinary and you can have access to some of the very best lenses ever!
Yet....the Pentax 645z with the right lens gives you amazing image quality at a third of the price
Unfortunately I don't have that money....if i could i will certainly invest in PO

You should read this article by Michael Reichmann (which is a great Phase One supporter)

The Pentax 645z it a great Dslr which delivers amazing IQ at a very reasonable prize
If are coming form a full frame 35mm dslr its by far the best option out there (Price-IQ-Camera controls)

    Thanks

Depends on what is meant by "comparable".

For around the same price of a 645Z+Lens you can have a Phase/Leaf system which is:
    - roughly the same res (40mp vs 50mp)
    - features a faster, more intuitive user interface
    - provides flash sync up to 1/1600
    - provides fast, robust, featureful, professional tethering
    - compatibility with tech cameras, view cameras, and alternative cameras
    - has a complete modern lens lineup (also accepts a huge range of legacy lenses)
    - provides tools like Focus Mask, customizable exposure warning, automatic perspective correction
    - has color developed by a team including both the hardware team and software team, rather than relying on 3rd party companies to try to make the best color in isolation
    - fast image review, even when shooting bursts
    - full support in Capture One, at no cost, forever

For a few k more you could go to a larger sensor (full frame 645) and/or a system with 80mp of resolution.

If all you want is the 50mp sensor (and you forget about the rest of the system, which is as important if not more important than the sensor - especially the glass) then a Credo 50 kit or IQ150 kit is 10k less than what you've quoted.

Isn't the IQ 250 (which has the same sensore as the Pentax 645z) sold for 35000$ body only?

I never denied what a superior system the PO is but it comes at a price that some folks can't afford....
