Saturated reds are difficult to desaurate

I use Canon 1 ds Mk III and Capture One 4,5,2. When I try to desaturate saturated reds
in Color editor it seems impossible to recover separation or some tonality. The reds get for sure less saturated but thats all, no change in separation. The reds have not been blown out and I have not had this problem in other rawconverters. Any solution?

    To answer my own question;
    One has to be very careful with the noise reduction specially the color noise reduction when having saturated colors. I nowdays seldom have it higher than 10-14. Then to desaturate with Color Editor works just fine. No posterisation. It of course introduces more color noise. I use Noise Ninja at the end – best result to my taste.
