UI issues with V5 - please fix
I see alot of major problems were addressed in V5, basically a really nice V4.9
Hopefully there are no major bugs, so far I've had no catastrophic issues.
There are some really annoying remaining UI issues that have persisted all through V4 that haven't been touched on.
There are copy/pasted from earlier posts of mine:
- The selected frames in the browser have such a thin white frame, V3 was great with the big obvious selection border that matched the user highlighted color in the OS preferences. Please fix this, it is so hard to see that 1 pixel frame. It makes it really diffucult to process large jpbs.
- When going through folders to tag, if i rate/color tag photos and then sort the folder by rating, and then go to another folder and return to the folder that i sorted by rating, it defaults to sorting by name! so i have to sort it by rating again, this is really tedious - again it wasn't like that in V3
- Please have 0 clear all ratings/color tags not just the number rating. It is very fast to just hit 0 to clear all tagging as it was in three.
All in all, things are looking much better for Capture One users, something that couldn't be said while we had to use V4.

I second these 2 requests !0 -

Nope
I don't use that feature… all my folder are my favorites but not set as "favorite" why should I ?0 -

C1 can't cache hundred of folders with thousands of files. This is what "favorites" is for.
so basically it's better (faster) to work with a higher number of sessions, with all the folders within the session set as "favorites", rather than working with just a few sessions but each with a high number of folders.
I am working typically with just 1 folder in a session. Insetad of creating new folders I create new sessions. That speeds up things. Though, of course, a certain number of folders within one session is working fine as well.
You can also store a keyboard shortcut to set folders as favorite.0 -
Hi thowi
Thanks for the clear explanations…
As I don't shoot tethered and don't use any program to download my files (1Ds3s), I haven't felt the need for all this session/favorite stuff…0 -

Don't translate "favorite" as something you like. Translate it as something that has priority for Capture One; it's not personal rating of the folders it's related to file handling. For instance if you re-open a folder that is set as favorite the redraw of the previews is very fast.... because they are cached. If you you re-open a folder that is not set as favorite it takes quite an annoying amount of time to redraw the previews.

So: if you want to work fast the first thing to do is to set the respective folders as favorites. This should be done routinely.
Once you are used to work with sessions it's easy and fast to handle as you can simply switch sessions in the menu "file" or on top of the library tool in the new pull down menu.
Too, you can open sessions in a new window so that you can work simultaneously in different sessions... as far as you'd like to.0 -
Thowi-
Thank you for explaining the favorites advantage, up to now I have been ignoring it as I felt it wasn't necessary. I will start using it.
How about my other two requests anyone? They really need to change the selected frame as it is now.
- Please have 0 clear all ratings/color tags not just the number rating. It is very fast to just hit 0 to clear all tagging as it was in V3.
- The selected frames in the browser have such a thin white frame, V3 was great with the big obvious selection border that matched the user highlighted color in the OS preferences. Please fix this, it is so hard to see that 1 pixel frame. It makes it really diffucult to process large jobs.0 -

If you don't use stars rating you can choose 0 to clear color tags as well.
Or, if you use both, you can store 0 to clear the rating and e.g. ctrl+0 to clear color tags.
I know you want one key for both but that's not possible as there are two ways to tag images. The selected frames in the browser have such a thin white frame, V3 was great with the big obvious selection border that matched the user highlighted color in the OS preferences. Please fix this, it is so hard to see that 1 pixel frame. It makes it really diffucult to process large jobs.
the white border has always the same size - either way how big/small you set the thumnails. So the bigger the thumbnails the less obvious the white border is and vice versa. I am finding with the thumnails set to size "S" or smaller it's okay.
However I am also finding that this is extremely up to one's perception and finally it would be great if we could customize these little (but important) things as well. Maybe worth a feature request?!0 -

I think if i set a folder as a capture folder during a tethered session it should remember my settings - ratings, sort order, etc. w/o having to designate a favorite. That's what I want a capture software to do as an end user.0 -

"Session Folders", "Session Favorites" and most likely "Session Albums" store the setting, i.e. also the sort order.
