Corrupted Preview Files, along with Bugs
Firstly, I have found C4 buggy. It crashes on me most every time I have used it on my G5 Quad. If I start any other software with C4 running in the background, it will crash. C4 also hangs my computer up to a slow crawl.
The other day I proccessed 280 images. The first 100 or so proccessed in about 25 seconds each. That proccess time slowed and by the second 100 images, proccessing was @ 4 minutes per image. It took @ five hours to process 280 images, with @ 3 or 4 crashes in between.
As for corrupted previews, I began to edit the 280 images from my new Canon 1Ds Mark III. About mid-way in the batch of images, there were six images that were obviously corrupt looking.
These six image previews looked like each one was a collage of two or three seperate images. There were parts of horizontal images combined with vertical images. Imagine one image dividied up into three stair stepped parts. Each part was a portion of a different image. Each protion had widely different color and tone qualities. Some areas were very tweaked with a mostly blue and black hue, while other areas where normal looking for that portion of the image.
Without a doubt, these were portions of several images combined into one image. Of the six, they were all different looking and were corrupted in various ways with similar problems. The views remained corrupt regardless of what size they were viewed at.
I proccessed the files and the processed files came out normal, as shot, unlike the previews. The proccessed files and thumbnails were fine in Photoshop. Re-starting C4 did not effect the problem.
I loaded the images into the Canon software and they appear and respond normal. No problems at all.
It remains obvious that at this time, I have no choice but to use software other than C4 for my workflow.

Dana,
Do you have the latest firmware for you 1Ds Mk III ?
Have to tried looking at the files in CS3 Bridge, with the latest Camera RAW plugin.
I'm currently trouble shooting file corruption with a few of my 1Ds Mark III files.
