It will not be supported. Lets simply call it one of the "perks" of having the Leica version.
This is a business decision that has been taken since Phase One and Leica has strategic agreement.

Interesting, so the result of the strategic agreement customers have to pay double the cost for the same camera (albeit with a red badge and a 'free' strap) in order to maintain their workflow.
Sadly that means neither camera for me (and the Panasonic uses a Leica lens) and disappointment at Phase One.
Not sure how these agreements are in the best interest of customers.0 -
Yikes... wish I would have known this before I went through the bother of signing up for these forums.
I've heard good things about your software, I ~might consider the Leica version if it included the Pro version of the Capture One software. However I can't see paying Pro version money (difference between the Leica & Lumix versions) and only getting the standard version and an albeit pretty red dot on the camera.
Just let me know if you decide you want my $129.00 and I'll send it right over 😕0 -
Great shame given the excellent reviews the Panasonic is getting that Phase have chosen not to allow at least their Pro customers to use their preferred RAW converter in an effort to get them to pay more for the otherwise identical Leica version.
More than anything else this makes me want to look for an alternative workflow.0 -
Great Choice Phase One !!!!!
I was planing to buy your program Capture One 4.8 Pro because I like its simple work flow and because it works greatly, but since I own also a Panasonic LX3 along with my Nikons D200 and D3x I shall have to look elsewhere for a program of a company less tied to certain luxury brands and that is more into photography instead of business and money like you.
I hope your agreement with Leica will yield you lots of money, at least enough to compensate for all photography enthusiasts like me that you lost.
Again, GREAT CHOICE PHASE ONE !!!!!!!!!!!0 -

Honestly we're trying to get Phase One to better understand the needs of the professional and we're bickering about which toy cameras should be supported. Well no wonder we're not being heard.

I'm disappointed that Phase One has seen fit to discriminate against LX3 users in order to honour their "strategic agreement" with Leica.
The strategic agreement with their customers is somewhat at risk as a result.
Some photographers may regard the LX3 as a toy, that's their funeral. This fabulous little camera has a part in my professional stable. I'm reminded of what a bunch of parsimonious prats Phase One appear to have become over the past 2 or 3 years every time I process my LX3 files in Silkypix.
(Silkypix incidentally is a very nice piece of software for RAW conversion. It is my preference to process all my files from all my cameras in the one place though)
Thanks

My go everywhere toy camera is the D-Lux3 and strategic agreement or not it can't be processed in Capture One. I've been a mouthpiece on this forum for various things but never this. Gotta choose your battles.
Cheers,

Wow you guys are pretty harsh. I believe C1 is by far the best product of it's type on the market. A quick search on the internet yields a work around for the LX3. What's the problem then. My wife shoots an LX3 and it is a nice little camera but I wouldn't dream of running the kids birthday files through C1. The idea of a nice point and shoot is that you shouldn't have to process the files just hit print.
But hey to each his own.0 -
Bumping this Panasonic thread.
I think this quote is the source of the "rumours" and "politics" mentioned in the recently closed topic[quote="Ulf" wrote:

It is vital to have Phase One reps active on this forum.
It is a u2u forum, but I think this is a valid u2u topic. The forum is an informal place for Phase to hear users and dog knows, it's easier to post here than raise a support case.
There is also less of a screaming alone in the darkness feel. 😊0
