Removing Old Capture One versions, but leaving 3.75 ok?

    peegeenyc,

Absolutely, only the most current version of Capture One should be installed on a machine.
It would be best to do a complete Uninstall and Clean reinstall since older version files/folders can create conflicts and frustrations.

See Knowledge Base article # 1665 for complete removal:
    http://www.phaseone.com/Content/Support ... nguageid=1

Then Download most recent version 3.7.5 ( Update 3.7.6 due quite soon )
    for a Clean install.

    Keith,

Thank you for that helpful response.

Would it be ok, then, to do a complete uninstal and clean without the risk of losing any validation that I'm a legitimate customer and purchaser of C1 LE? I was just wondering if erasing C1 LE in its entirey (including the latest version) from my PC might also erase any evidence that I was a purchaser of an earlier version. On the strength of your earlier response I suspect not, but I just wanted to check.

Keith can probably give you a better answer on the LE version but I would assume it's ok to actually remove that software.

The 3.74 and 3.75 version are installed into the same directory so if you remove
the 3.74 from the Add/Remove box the 3.7.5 will no longer work.

Once you get the LE version removed from the machine see the post below
that I added in Sept. It will explain how to remove just the version number from
the Add/Remove programs so you only see the 3.7.5 version..

    Lance,

Can't say it any better... when an update is installed to default location, it also updates the Uninstaller.
Therefore, one does not have multiple versions installed although it appears this way at Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs menu

If multiple versions of Capture One are installed to different locations,
then there can be conflicts and the program just doesn't behave.
This is why we recommend a complete Uninstall and Clean Reinstall.

    Cheers,

    Thanks, Keith and Lance.

So does this mean that although there appear to be three previous versions using up a sizeable amount of space on my C drive, in actual fact there aren't?

    Ian,

Pretty darn sure... I've gone in to remove an old version in Add/Remove
and Windows displays a message that says 'program may / or may not exist uninstall anyways' or something similar.
Kind of a Ghost Install 👿

Keith I've been complaining about this "feature" of C1 for two years now. It's the only program I have that leaves old versions of itself showing in Add/Remove Programs when you update. Very bad manners.

I've also mentioned it a few times. There is absolutely no reason that shouldn't be fixed. It is confusing to new and old users alike. I work at a software company, and our users would be irate if we left remnants of old versions around. Removing all traces is just good programming etiquette.

Well it didn't get fixed this go-round either. I just installed the release version of 3.7.6 over the beta. My Add/Remove list now shows:

    Capture One 3.7.4
    Capture One 3.7.6
    Capture One 3.7.6b

It would show more than that except this is a relatively new machine. At one point on its predecessor I had seven versions of C1 listed!
