    Nop, this how the Canon SDK works. We use the SDK to greatly increase transfer speed, stability, live-view and giving the user the ability to change camera parameters.

    You could always just set up a mirrored monitor next to the photographer so he can have an image preview. Takes up a little more room, but you are able to to preview the images.

    Or use Capture Pilot Web: that is any device (PC, tablet) with a browser can look over the network what is happening and do some tagging/rating at the same time.
