Styles/Presets problem

Have you got a lot of presets?

I see something similar with ICC profiles in recipes having at some point inadvertently run a program that added profiles for every Canon printer that has ever existed (or it seems like that).

I'm wondering if you are seeing the same sort of thing.

I would create a Support Case and see what the Support team have to say about it.

I can't help with specifics on Presets or styles as I rarely use them so have only the standards plus 3 or 4 historic settings of my own. No problems with them.

I offer a lot of (free) presets on the Internet and if you Google you should find it quickly. If they slow down or crash your system, I am happy to help.

I noticed the same thing. Some presets are fine, applied almost instantly, some others are much, much slower, to the point I don't even bother using them (too slow).

This is especially true for the new Styles tab in C1 10.1. I can scroll over most presets seeing almost immediate changes to the picture, but there are presets that just slow down the entire process, it takes seconds for them to get highlighted (when mouse is over) and it takes seconds to move away from them.

The worst case for me was on Windows 10 Creators Update, it was just painfully slow to select some presets.

Reverted to the Windows 10 before the Creators Update and things improved a bit, but not completely eliminating the slow-downs when applying (some) presets.

I am interested to learn what presets are slowing you down.

I'm having exactly the same problem. Presets have been slow since C1 v9, and now v10. Hovering my mouse over them was snappy in v8. I even tried to rebuild fresh presets thinking upgrades were the problem, but unfortunately it didn't help. I've tried disabling OpenCL and that made no difference. The frustrating thing, presets are super snappy right after loading C1 v10, but within 10 to 20 seconds, they become unusable and take up to 10 seconds to load just by hovering the mouse over them.

I'm running an i7 with 16Gb of RAM and a 660 GTX, I'm pretty sure it's not my hardware, otherwise why would presets be so snappy within the first few seconds of C1 launching?

Really need this fixed, as presets are important to my workflow.

I thought it would be a good idea to record my screen to show PhaseOne support, by using the Xbox windows screen recorder.

As soon as I launched the screen recorder, the presets came to life and worked flawlessly. I can my GPU core jumps to 1020MHz from a low state of 324MHz.

Now if I leave C1 for a few minutes and come back to the presets, once again, they freeze, they are slow and unresponsive. The GPU core stays at 324MHz. I launch the Xbox screen recorder tool (win+G) again, and bang, C1 comes back to life and GPU core jumps to 1020MHz.

I'm using the latest nvidia drivers, this seems that C1 is not 'waking' up the GPU for presets, causing the severe slowdown.

What is very odd is that I have OpenCL disabled, so C1 still seems to use some GPU for rendering presets.

Any update on this? I am having exactly the same issue. Some styles are snappy, others take 30-40 seconds to apply. I have removed all styles and added back just a couple to C1 (nothing applied to the image yet) to see if the number of styles is the issue. No difference, still very slow. I have tried regenerating the previews. Tried disabling hardware acceleration. No difference. I even tried to create a style manually, same issue. I use catalogue and have about 1k pictures in it. I tried creating a new catalogue, same issue.
