Problems with Tethering Nikon Camera (Not 850)

I use a D800 connected to a macbook pro with the same OS & CO1 versions and have not had this experience since installing 10.2.1. Only time I've had an image look like that (blue & white lines) is when the camera has been physically disconnected while images are still coming through. I did have some crashes with 10.2.1 when changing capture folders that did not happen with older versions but that is the only bug I've seen.

I'd suggest to open a support ticket.

Do you have any older versions of CO1 you can reinstall to rule out 10.2.1?

Could be a dying GPU (or CPU) if the MacBook Pro is 2014 or older.

I don't shoot tethered, but I suspect some OpenCL bug. Similar stuff happens to me in Windows 10 after CO has been open for a while and had a lot put through.

I tried 3 Nvidia GPUs and sooner or later I get the same artefacts until I restart Capture One. (It may take weeks to show up again however.)

Speaking of which you could trying turning off hardware acceleration (OpenCL) to see if that makes a difference.

I tried today on a shoot without hardware acceleration and it made no difference. I did manage to narrow it down to an issue with using live view. After live view has been running for a while and I use the software to trigger the camera, the issue starts up. This was in the middle of a client shoot today ... not a pretty sight! It means I can no longer use live view with C1. If anyone has ideas or if there are Capture One people monitoring the forum it would be great to get some guidance. Please, please! I have a ticket in but have not received a response. This is crippling me!

If you haven't already try an older version of CO1

    Heat problem on the Mac?

If it is inconsistent and usually only happens after some time working some form of heat problem would be worth investigating.

I guess I will try an older version. I don't believe it is a heat problem. It is related to using live view. If I reboot and don't use live view again the problem goes away. I was planning on getting an D850 and am guessing the earlier versions will not support it, so that will be an issue.

Is there a recommendation for the max time to use the sensor in Live View mode?

I do not use it on live view for extended periods of time. Mostly for initial composition and focus. The problem only started occurring in the last six months or so. Guessing it is related to the C1 version or update on the Mac OS.

Seems to be fixed. I dropped in at my local Phase distributor who told me lots of people were experiencing this issue with Sierra. It has to do with permissions. There were a couple of settings to change, including one by command line. I did a 40 minute test and the problem did not occur so I am crossing my fingers.

I'm using Capture One 10. 2.1 connected to a Macbook Pro with OS 10.12.6 using Tethertools cables and various Nikon 810s and D800e's. All worked fine until second last C1 update. Now, ever once in a while, while shooting, I start to get images that are partial or with blue and white lines. Then the software will not connect to the camera. I restart the software, cameras, etc. and then it work OK for a few shots and the same thing happens. Next shoot, the problem will go away but return eventually in the middle of another shoot. It's a killer during a live shoot. I've tried switching cables and cameras when this happens but it does not seem make a difference. Also, sometimes I use a powered USB hub - which seems not to make a difference either. I had Nikon check what I thought might be a problem body but they say it is fine. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Jeff

I've had this problem with my D850. I was using original USB Nikon cable with Hama 4 m extension. This setup was working for me fine with my D810 for a long time... Now the problem appears... But when Im using only original cable, everything is ok.. No transfers losses. Theoretically, it looks like extension fault.. But again. It works fine for 2 years with D810... I have new extension and still have problems...

Here are the instructions for Sierra that my vendor B3K gave to me and they seem to work. There is apparently a permissions issue with various components of the program making requests. This has to be done with every update as it does not carry forward to new versions.

MAC OS Sierra, the option of “Anywhere†is
no longer shown. To access this option, the
following command line must be entered
    using Terminal mode.
    1) Close Preferences
    2) Launch the Terminal application
    from the Utilities folder.
    3) Copy the script below and paste into
    Terminal window: sudo spctl --master-disable

    Confirmation of script success
    1) Launch Mac OS preferences
    2) Select “Security & Privacyâ€
    3) General tab now shows
    “Anywhere†selected

    1. Mac OSX Preferences > Security and
Privacy > Privacy>. From the items
shown on the left side of the window,
    highlight “Accessibilityâ€
    2. At the bottom left, click on the lock and
    unlock with your computer password
    3. In the window on the right use the plus
symbol (bottom left) which will open a
    standard Mac OS finder window
    4. Use the finder window to navigate to
    Capture One
    5. When Capture One is highlighted, the
open button on the bottom right of the
    finder window will become active
    6. Click Open to add Capture One,
which should now show on the list as
    noted in the screen grab.

For me this appears to have been the issue. Problem resolved.
