Have you bought the Pro for Sony license upgrade or are you using the free "Express for Sony" version?

Pro is required for tethering and Live View.

Second point - the downloads are all the same but which license version you have activated determines which version is running.

It may be that you have Express activated rather than Pro for Sony (or Pro if you bought the full version that is not restricted to Sony RAW files).

If so you need to de-activate Express. Then when you run again you will be allowed to activate as whichever Pro you bought using the activation code provided and you should be ablt to tether.

If you are already activated as one of the Pro versions try to deactive and reactivate.

If that does not work create a Support Case and get the the Support team to assist you.

Do you have Google Backup and Sync installed and running on your Mac? If so, try quitting it. My A7R gives exactly the same error when the google software is running. The issue has been reported to both Google and Phase One.

Thanks Grant. I do have the Capture One Pro (sony ver) activated. I already checked that out. I will check it once again to double check.
