GTX 980 Ti @ MacPro 5,1 High Sierra

Dear forum experts!

After a lot of reading I came to the conclusion that a flashed NVIDIA GTX 980 Ti card is likely to work well in a Mac Pro 5,1 with C1 under Mac OS. I found several posts here in the forum indicating this.

But prior to making an investment of some 100 bucks I would like to ask for confirmation by you if this is also the case for C1 11 and MacOS 10.13 (.4) High Sierra!
Would I need to download and to install some special drivers - or is it just plug and play?

    I have a flashed GTX980 (4GB, not Ti) in a Mac Pro 4,1 that runs fine with Capture One on macOS10.13.4. You will need to install the appropriate Nvidia driver and be prepared to update it after major system updates, which regularly make the driver stop working.
    As a precaution, I would recommend to keep your current adapter in the machine for the case that there is an issue with the Nvidia.

    Thanks a lot for your clear words!

    The game of cat and mouse after each new macOS release with non working drivers is not what I was looking for...
    Since my Mac Pro is filled with additional adapter cards losing 2 card slots for an additional GX card would not work for me - but thanks to your hint I would make sure to keep my current card to stay operational - just in case.

    nVidia usually update the driver within 24 hours of an OSX update.
    The Mac will just revert to the built-in drivers if you update OSX and don't update nVidia.
    This can result in C1 doing the hardware acceleration test again.
    Just wait 24/48 hours after the OSX update, grab the nVidia then update OSX. That should minimise downtime.
