Hello Forum, I'm new to you and need help for a decision

Hi to you, my first posting and I hope you can help me.

I just bought a everyday-camera, the LEICA D-Lux 4. I will carry it with me, the Nikon D 200 is just for office works and big panorama pics for some clients.

Normally I work with Aperture and Photoshop CS 3 at my Mac.
Now, Aperture doesn't support the D-Lux 4 for the moment and so I tried C1, which came with my new Leica. And C1 seems to be a cool RAW Processor (I mainly take RAWs).

Now my Quesions:

1) How can a Working Process look like with Aperture AND C1 or C1 PRO? I Mean, Aperture has a very good archive tool, I don't have to care about the place, where my pics are, they are all in one Aperture archieve. C1 seems to be JUST for processing, not for archiving.

2) What about C1 PRO? An upgrade will cost me some bucks and I don't know, if it is worth the money. Please, are there some comparison lists for C1 and C1 PRO?

And, at the end, sorry for my bad English, I hope you get the point 😊

  I'm a relative newcomer myself to Capture One version 4, but coming from an Aperture/CS background myself will do my best to help.

  Important to recognise that Capture One isn't a library management tool like Aperture and Lightroom, it's primary task is RAW conversion. That said it does this extremely well - hence why I'm trying to incorporate it into my own workflow.
  
  My intention is to use Capture One to capture/download RAW files and use it to:

  • identify shots I want to process
  • process them in terms of WB/Colour/Crop/Levels/Curve/etc
  • export a 16-bit TIFF into Photoshop for any advanced processing (such as shaping/B&W/cloning/etc)
  • Store a HQ JPG or PSD's into Aperture for library management

  
  
  I'm not quite there in this respect, but given problems with Aperture being sluggish and wanting to get the best quality from my shots, this is where I'm heading.

  There is a comparison list somewhere but as always I can't find it anywhere I now try to find it. I suggest looking at http://www.phaseone.com/4/ and clicking on the tab "Go for PRO"; alternatively download the user guide which outlines what is PRO only.
  
  I have paid for the upgrade to PRO because I wanted the features, but IMHO be sure of your choice before plowing ahead.

  Thanks Ian, that was great information.
  I now looked the Video Tutorials and I'm more and more surprised by the capabilities C1 come with!
  It is that more than Aperture.
  
  I now have to think about my workflow.
