Can't do anything with tiffs?
I scanned some black and white negatives that I had just processed using a Nikon CoolScan IV ED via VueScan onto the hard drive of my new iMac 27" running El Capitan. I imported these into CO (into the CO Catalog is where they should be, but I did not check to confirm that). I can view them but that is all. I cannot edit them, add keywords or ratings etc. They are not locked.
I know I'm probably missing something obvious but can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried searching the forum?
One possibility is that your B&W TIFF is not in an RGB colour space - in which case C1 will not want to work with it.
After all, C1 is, primarily, software for digital RAW file interpretation with its primary reason for existence being, historically, Phase One's need to process images from its in-house cameras.
Had Phase started out with Scanner hardware things might be different.
My understanding is that if you makes sure the files are RGB based you will be able to edit them but try some searches in the forum first to obtain some benefit form previous discussion.

Thanks Grant. The files are in sRGB space.
I did not see an answer searching in the forum.
This may have been an import error of some sort on my part. I'm not at home but when I get home I will start over and pay attention to the import options.0 -
Hmm.
The other regular issue, as I recall, was a file with an Alpha channel.
At one time they would not display at all but recently display capability has been included - but not edit.
Also, at the very basic level so often overlooked, do you have "Enable TIFF Editing" ticked in the Preferences?
Edit Menu > Preferences > Image Tag page.

Edit Menu > Preferences > Image Tag page.

I don't know but I'll bet that is it. Will check when I get home. Thanks.0 -
Grant, you were right the first time. I had scanned them as 8 bit gray. Not sure why CO had sRGB listed in the metadata. I guess that was they space they were in in CO. When scanned in 24 bit RGB they work fine.
Thanks again for you help.0
