development lost
(sorry, my english as german capture one user is not the best ....)
I use Capture One 9 with a15'' MacBookPro retina (mid 2015) and OS X "El Capitan" actual Versions.
Very often some or all steps of development are lost when I start the software again.
If you interrupt your workflow and want to continue later all the work you have done is lost. This is very annoying.
color markings, ratings and all development adjustments i have done are suddenly lost.
Sometimes the software cannot load the masks of the local adjustment layer.
Everything in vain!
Any ideas to improve the stability of Capture One ?

I never encountered this kind of problem. Do you quit the software normally (i.e. no "Force Quit")? 0 -
yes i quit the software normally.
I only work with "Sessions"0 -

Are you using the latest release?
I would suggest creating a new session if you normally just use the same session for everything.
Have you run the Verification process on your problem session(s)?
See if that makes a difference.
I would also suggest that you create a Support Case and see what the Support Team can suggest.

- I am allways using the latest release
- I normally used the same session for everything. but I also tried some new sessions in the last weeks with the same result.
- yes I had run the verification process
- I also created several support cases but they could not give me a really solution for the problem
- for the next time I will try to work with a catalogue an I hope the catalogue-backup possibilities can help me if the problem will be again.0 -

That does sound very strange.
I only use sessions but with Windows not Mac
It is very easy to see whether the files for adjustments, masks, etc., exist where they are meant to be using Windows. I do not know if it is so easy using OSX. If it is and you can see that the edit files exist where they should for a folder of images then creating a new session and opening that folder in it should mean that C1 can find all of the edits. If that is not what happens then there is something fundamentally wrong at the file level. I would assume that you have been through all of that process investigation with the Support Team.
In several years of using C1 starting with version 6 I have only ever had one problem related to a session and that turned out to be a due to what seemed to be best described as a corrupt edit file. When after some time I spotted the source of the unpredictable problem I was able to fix it by deleting the edits for just that one image. I then recreated the edit for the image and all was well.
The edit file had no obvious corruption visible. I suspect that an internal reference in the cosessiondb file was causing the erratic problem. It was very random and certainly not obvious until I noticed a bad thumbnail that preview recreation did not correct. From memory that was back in V7.
However, if you are experiencing problems even with new sessions (assuming you are not using a pre-saved session template that might include some sort of problem before you start) I really wonder if the problem lies outside Capture One somehow.
If you are happy with the session process when it works I am not sure that a Catalogue is a long term solution for you. However, as a test to see whether it changes the problem you are experiencing it sounds like a good idea to try it out.
One thought, which you have probably already considered.
Do you have any file backup and synchronisation software running?
If the edit files exist where they are supposed to be but cannot be "seen" as part of the session it makes me wonder whether something is replacing or moving files for some purpose without properly updating the cosessiondb links. Or, rather, ,is creating a new file and removing the old one with a different internal ID (to make a simple description of what I am trying to say) that is different to the reference that is stored in the cosessiondb file. Of course if that was the case you would probably expect verification to fail ... but that might not be the case.

I don't know what your issues are, but I suggest backing up your catalog before closing it, or at least once a day.
File > backup catalog
If you have a second hard drive, or an external hard drive, I would suggest putting your backups there, rather on the drive with your catalog on it.0 -
in the meantime i've deleted all my catalogs and sessions.
Since I created a new session and a new catalog I had no similar problems.
I'll observe the two altenatives in the next weeks and decide what will be better for my workflow.
I hope, the problems will not be again in the future.
I need the C1-catalog or C1-session only temporarly for raw-development and creating jpg-files or tiff-files, but i want to save the development adjustments if I need them perhaps again in the future.
The jpg-files and tiff-files and other files created with other software (photoshop and so on) are stored on extern harddisks and I use media pro as catalog to manage my tagged finally pictures.
With a C1-catalog it is possible to create a separate catalog for selected files and store it together with the original files. I think this woud be better for my workflow in the future after I had these problems with sessions.
In C1-Sessions I use for import and export separate folders and subfolders (not the standard capture or output-folder) on my harddisk. Later I store these files on extern harddisks as archive.0
