Thank You Phase One
It's good to see Phase One acquiring Microsoft Media, sounds like some good things coming down the pipeline. It's nice to allow CO1 users access to the code.
Thank you.

I LOVE free stuff!.........Thanks Phase One. đ 0 -
Hi,
This is good news for loyal iView users. Even though Expression Media has stagnated over the past 18 months it still remains the best app for photographers serious about DAM. That's largely due to the original iView engineers, in particular its creator Yan Calotychos.

Although I can't personally take credit, it's always nice to be thanked.
"Thank You"s are always welcome, however feedback is more valuable. Once everyone starts using both software's the more feedback we can get the better off everyone will be as future development takes place (hopefully making up for the stagnant past 18 months đ )0 -
It's a very good news .
My clients need it and i was sad to tell them , it's not available.
Iview/expression media is a so wonderful ap.
But as everybody now it and love it as , ex iview; why don't you call-it Iview?
It will be fair and more simple.
cordialement

I have to agree it is fantastic plus to have this available to us for free. It kind of gives us the leg up on some of the others out there. I know I am very appreciative, and it is now on all my machines both Mac and PC. Thank you very much! 0 -
I certainly plan to get Expression Media. ( I love the free price.) But could someone please explain how it can be used in conjunction with Capture One? Ultimately, I expect that many of its features will be integrated with C1, but until that happens, how should one use it?

Hello,
I am a very happy user of EM2 but was of course not very happy with the development over the last 18 months. I am optimistic now that the software will be developed further and that we soon have EM3.
I am personally not a fan of software like Lightroom or Aperture. I just want to have the best cataloging software and nothing more. I hope that Phase One will build on the excellent DAM capabilities of EM2.

You asked for our needs in addition to our thanks. As an individual user of iView Media, then iView Media Pro, and then the Microsoft rebranded Expression Media Pro products, I agree with everyone posting that this is great news. đ
I have been looking hard for a substitute DAM as I concluded that progress in this tool was halted by the MS folks. I am very impatient you fix the bug that will re-enable viewing of the NEF file (as edited) using the 'Preferred engine: manufacturers' Media Rendering preference in OSX 10.6x. This bug is frustrating since it has 'always' worked before, and has caused me to seriously consider how to leave this tool.
I hope that as custodian of this technology you will develop a solid capability to work with your competing editors, Capture NX2, and the Adobe product set. As a single user this is very important to my workflow. I will give your editor a fair try and am very excited to see how it performs. I couldn't afford to purchase another editor so this opportunity is exciting.
I am pleased and happy to have this new opportunity to maintain my 5+ year investment in this great tool. Please do what you can to restore the excellent speed and interface character which the original iView team so successfully delivered. Tight integration with the file types and fine light table. Adding things like stacks, and recognition of RAW + JPEG as single thumbnail are good places to start.
I am sure the user community which is still committed to the product will give you the support and patience needed to do a solid job of taking on this product. Again thank you and I wish you all success in taking this fine tool into your suite of tools for photographers.0 -
OK, Here's a comment... Now that you are working on integrating these two programs. please do not have CO1 generate previews for all images in the folder when one image is opened for adjustments. At least give us the option of generating them or not. This is one reason I dread using CO1 when I have a new folder and only want to check out one specific image. 0 -
hello guys,
also for me as iview-user since 1.0 i am happy to hear the news. german ASH iview developers did a great job, but after bought by MS it came as expected. from ASCII-code errors for european languagues to the awful MS design, V3 was/is terrible. using it mainly to browse, select, rename and describe via IPTC, a search-and-replace-function for captions would be great as first input (like photomechanic).
as a power user i would give much more input if requested/welcomed.
wish you all the best - going to hold my capture one 5 workshop in digitalstore vienna now...

Thanks for realizing how great iView/EM is. Do any of the team come with the acquisition? 0 -
I'd like to add my thanks for Phase One snatching iView/EM from the jaws of obscurity ... it's a wonderful asset and I hope you will take it further than what has been done in the past four years. 0 -
I know it has already been said, but thank you Phase One. I had been a long time user of iView/EM but feared the worst when it appeared to be dead in the water, so migrated to a competitor's software. I am now back with EM, and looking forward to a productive and long term relationship. 0 -
Following suit with many others, thank YOU, Phase One for acquiring Expression Media. PLEASE take good care of this software. As someone else mentioned, this software stagnated once Microsoft acquired it, and I agree with this assessment. Please make EM more robust with large catalogs, please make it render DNG files in the "media" window. Please make it as good and better than iView Media Pro was. I really enjoyed iView MediaPro and it was never the same once Microsoft took it over. 0 -
Hiya Phase One,
Just wanted to add my thanks to all the others here for seeing the potential in this software. I have been a loyal user since Iview Media Pro as so many others here and look forward to great professional advances in both features and support and think this software is a perfect fit within your company.
So thanks for saving me a tremendous amount of work in moving to another product! Cant wait to see where you take us.

I wish I had been notified of this good news. I just gave up on Expression Media and bought a copy of Lightroom 3. Now I'm stuck and not even registered with Phase One as an EM owner. I have seen good reviews of Phase One and CO. So, unless lightroom has greatly improved it's DAM ability, I'm hoping I will at least qualify for an EM upgrade to 3 when Phase one brings it out! 0 -
I was an iView user for years, until M***soft wrecked it âšī¸ . I have been using Bridge + Capture One, with a Phase One back, and finding all the problems with Bridge! I am now so pleased to find the change, and am now relearning the old methods and unlearning Bridge. But please change the name back again: ExpMed is so naff.
So thank you Phase One đ đ0
