Capture One 12 Slow launch?
Greetings everyone,
as this has been going on for a while, I thought I'd ask in the forum in the hope of a solution.
I had previously had issues from the very beginning when launching C1, where it would take up to 8 minutes to launch. That was on a late 2013 iMac 32gb RAM and 3 tb fusion drive.
Although my machine was fast and had no problems running anything else, I put this down to potential age of the machine and maybe due to the graphics card being slightly older...
Contacted support who have been very helpful with several options to try, but unfortunately none of them worked.
Recently I had the opportunity to upgrade to a brand new 2019 iMac at a very attractive price so went for it. This new machine has an i9 processor, 64gb RAM, Radeon pro Vega 48 and 2tb SSD. The issue is still here, and now I have a new addition which is when quitting C1 it hangs (beachball appears), and I have to force quit it every time I want to leave. It's infuriating to say the least, and frustrating that this is still happening on a new top line machine with the latest update (12.1.1).
Is anyone else experiencing this? Can anyone think on what could be happening here and help out?
Thank you so much in advance.

What do you mean by "launch"? When I launch C1, it takes a few seconds to "launch" and then it shows a "loading catalog" message. Loading my catalog can take anywhere from a few seconds to a couple of minutes depending on which collection was selected the last time I closed the catalog—the larger the collection, the longer the next load time.
I've got a bit under 50k images in my catalog. Even when I had All Images selected when closing, the whole thing loads in only a couple of minutes next time I launch. The time hasn't changed in quite a while. I'm on a 2012 cheesegrater, catalog is on a PCI-connected SSD and image files are on a HDD. Increasing my RAM from 16 to 32 GB a couple of years ago didn't seem to change loading time, but moving the catalog to the fastest internal device did.0 -
By "launch" I mean just that, launching it to open from the dock.
I have around 500 images, so this shouldn't be taking this long. Also, you mention "loading catalog", I don't get that on my screen at all. Just takes me (eventually) into the latest place/image I was working on.
Could I be looking at a folder hierarchy issue?0 -
63K of images in catalog and it opened in 55 sec today. I don't think this matters but.... I just reset my PRAM due to slow start up of the mac itself. So when I read your launch time I decided to test the open time of my CO12, but, what really might matter is that I have 32 mg ram, on a 2012 iMac. Cheers oh my catalog is on an SSD and that does matter for sure. Images are not they are on a drobo. 0
