Eye Icon - write-protected file. Why?
My usual workflow is simple: the most recent two months are stored on a high speed local drive. Anything older is backed up to several external drives. I like C1's sessions because, in those infrequent moments where I need to edit an older file, I can simply open the external drive, find the file, and work on it.
Except since upgrading to 8.1 I've got some folders that are write protected, according to Capture One. The OS (Win7 64bit) says they're not, and I've got full permissions as the user and administrator of this system, and if I load up C1 v7 it will edit them just fine. If I copy them somewhere else, 8.1 will edit them.
8.1 simply refuses to touch 'em where they are, no editing allowed, no matter how I restart and reboot and re-permission these files.
Any suggestions?

Sounds like you are in DB mode (backs only)
Check your software is properly activated as PRO.0 -
I'd have thought the fact that most other folders were editable would indicate it was fully PRO, but - since I found that same suggestion on the web while searching - I did double check the program's status and it was definitely licensed properly. 0 -
What is the size of your picture-files ?
Since version 7.1.3 pictures with a size smaller then 513 pixels on the broadest side can't be edited anymore and are marked with a eye-icon (=write-protected).0 -
Definitely not the problem here, these are .NEF files from a D800E. Considerably larger than 513 pixels on a side. =) 0 -
Please create a support case and provide us the file. 0
