A Happy C1 Customer
Hi
I wanted to give you my experiences of using C1 for Windows as a professional catalogue fashion photographer.
I have been using your product for over 2 years and have always thought it to be number one above all other manufacturer’s raw conversion software.
Recently I tried Pixmantec’s Rawshooter Premium and was initially impressed enough to process two jobs, both shot with a Canon 1DS Mk2.
I was very impressed with the speed of the processing and the user interface.
Generally, I was happy with the output files (16 bit tiffs) but there was something that wasn’t quite right and I just couldn’t put my finger on it.
On Wednesday of this week, I decided to process one of the jobs again from scratch, this time using C1 3.7 for Windows. I have to say that it became very clear instantly what was worrying me about the Rawshooter processed files – the skin tones in comparison to C1 were very poor indeed. And on closer inspection, the overall image seemed to give the same impression as if a roll of Kodak Ektachrome transparency film had been processed by a bad laboratory, it had a “dirty†feel. Whereas C1 produced a very crisp, clear image with nice tones even in shadow areas and whites were clean, greys very neutral.
Of course, I tried to keep all Profiles/Settings/White Balance the same for both programs so that I could get a fair comparison of the two.
So, well done on an excellent product and I am not in any rush to stop using C1...!
