Output TIFF - always includes a small thumbnail

First idea is to look in your process recipes tool. If you have CO Pro, you might have 2 recipes checked.

If this is not the case, please provide more details like: version of CO, Windows, are both output files TIFFs, what is the suffix on the second file, which is the second file, is the output folder separate from your image folder of a sub folder.

    To get the picture...

No, not two seperate files. There is one output file (TIFF). But there are two pictures in this file. The wanted resolution and a small thumbmail. FastStone Image Viewer for example shows a 2P on the preview of these pictures to show there are two pictures in this TIFF.
Opening the TIFF in Photoshop and saving again and the second small picture in the file is gone.
So Capture One must somehow integrate a small preview in the TIFF and I want to switch this off.
That only happens with TIFF, in JPG no second picture
Dont think its relevant but however:
    - OS Win 7 64Bit
    - Capure One 5.1
    - No second file but two pictures in one file

Nice viewer BTW, this Faststone program. Just took a brief look into it. And I can confirm you findings.

It seems that the way Capture One (I tested with 6.1.1 but same result) stores the TIFF image is seen by Faststone Viewer as two pages in 1 file. Have not seen this in any other (viewer) program with Capture One output (and probably vice versa). So if you regard this as an issue, it could be an issue with the Faststone Viewer as well one with Capture One.

You could try to address this with either manufacturer? Have you contacted Faststone about it already?

Yes! FastStone Imageviewer is an extremly nice viewer...lightspeed rapid and many functions - normaly you have to pay for that a lot of money. By the way I made a donation on faststone.org - such a good program has to be honored a bit.

But now to the problem with to pictures - well workaround for me is a simple action in PS: open tiff and save it in another folder. thumbnail gone, problem not solved but avoided. Still a little enerving, but as there is no other solution I have to live with it. And yes, its annoying because Faststone is my favourite image-viewer to overview a lot of pictures because of its incredible speed - it scolls also through the second thumbnail so you have to tap "next" two times to get to the next picture actually.

Maybe I will contact faststone to ask if its an fastsone-related issue or a phasen-one-thing.

    Best regards
    Juergen

I too noted the same behavior with CO and Faststone.

I found if I opened the CO generated .tiff in PS, deleted the smaller image in the .tiff and then resaved that the image lost data (I think resolution, but perhaps color?)

Anyway, it led me to believe that both images are needed to build the full .tiff

actually It's not a FAstStone problem, it's really a problem from CO:

    viewtopic.phpf=21&t=10296&p=45743&hilit=tiff+2+pages&sid=ac16b17eba427afe4a82cc2a8cbf41e0#p45743

I do have now more than 100 000 picture to upload to wikimedia Commons, and I'm not really happy to have to open all the file in Photoshop to remove the thumbnail WHILE their is a "generate thumbnail" button in CO taht should prevent me from this problem.
