Download off card in D800
Hi,
Is there a way to download off a card installed in a D800 directly into Capture One Pro 8.3?. Working in Mavericks.
Nikon's Transfer 2 won't see the card only the camera. Mac's Image Capture will do it, but not directly.

No, Capture One will not download images from the card while in your camera.
Connecting a camera means to CO8 that you like to shoot tethered. Either use a card reader, or a tool like Image Capture.0 -
It wasn't all that long ago that tethering was not possible with Cap1. I use to tether in Nikon's software then develop my images in Capture One pro version 4. I remember a D200 in the mix.
Sometimes I still work that way, although I prefer keeping images tethered through Capture One version 8.3.1...And I am now able to leave the cards in the D800 without interfering with stable tethering connection with Cap1prover8.3.1, so I do use Mac's Image Capture to download card images as the Nikon Transfer software does not work with the D800 on at the mac..
I work with Camera Control Pro 2 when I need certain functions that the Phase One software is unable to provide;
such as being able to save images to the card and the computer at the same time. Also when I want to use AF I am able to move the AF box around and refocus remotely. Then I can switch to Manual Focus from within Camera Control Pro 2 to lock in the focus. I can crudely control white balance in Nikon's Camera Control Pro 2 but like Capture One I can not white balance in LV...and I do miss seeing a full frame image in Nikon's Camera Control Pro 2. I much prefer Cap 1's interface.
So I still need both apps.0 -

Actually funny how we remember. There has been indeed a period with CO4 that there was temporarily no tethering (to DSLR). A 10 months time frame between December 2007 (CO 4.0and October 2008 (CO Pro 4.5), now 7 years ago.
Zooming out, DSLR tethering was available from CO Pro version 1 (2003) up till today. That's a 12-years time span. It started with the Canon EOS 1D and 1Ds and soon stretch to the Nikon D1x. So far for my memory. Good memories. 😉0
