Two Computer Question From A Newbie
Hi again. I am trying formulate my workflow using C1Pro9. Right now I have used the "import from Lightroom" command to import my collections in LR to collections in C1 on my iMac desktop. All is well. I have a C1 catalog and an attached hard drive with 15000 images from LR. Now I am ready to import from a memory card into my catalog which is pretty straightforward.
I recently purchased a Macbook Pro laptop. It is my understanding that I can copy my catalog to the laptop and take that out in the field and have access to the previews of all of my images (but not the original files unless I take the hard drive). Is that correct?
So I am now away from home and import images from a memory card into the "copied" catalog. Do edits, ratings etc. When I get back home can I then copy that catalog to my iMac and begin to work on the images there?
Or, is a better approach to take the copied catalog to see previews on the laptop and create a new catalog of the new images on the rip and then merge the 2 catalogs when I return?
Basically I am looking for ideas to get my workflow going for an upcoming trip.
Thanks for your help.

I haven't tried that scenario yet, but will need to.
I'm thinking that I'll want to create a new catalog on the trip and import that into the base catalog upon return.
If I import to the base catalog and the copy that catalog back, the images will be left behind. Or so it would seem.0 -
You can work with photos using proxies even if you are away from your NAS. I recently purchased a Macbook Pro laptop. - and this is 100% correct.
I am doing almost the same thing as you do with your workflow. I shoot catalog in a field but store files outside catalog. And this is extra important. Then coming back I relocate files on NAS.
