How To Just Show Raw Files
How do you turn off viewing the thumbnail jpgs? and just be able to see the raw files? in 3.7 there was just a check box in the preferences section can't find any choice like that now?? Thanks!!

That feature in the preferences apparently did not make it in the first release of CO4. I used it all the time as well. Another feature request is born, I suppose. 0 -

You have read my mind. I only just now logged into the forum to ask that very question. It's frustrating not being able to filter the display and restrict it to raw files. I will make a feature request. This should be added to the Preferences dialog. Egad, why have so many useful options been omitted from this program? It's just baffling why development teams 'fix' things in this way -- features that were fine as-is and that did not need fixing...0 -

Mike.
It's been asked for many many times during the beta phase, and is just one of the items ignored by PO.0 -

I got to the beta version fairly late in the game, so I missed seeing all of those comments. By the time I saw your reply, I'd already requested the filtering (and P.O. acknowledged receiving the feature request).
I think we just have to keep sending this kind of feedback to them. I know a lot of these comments seem to have been ignored -- or 'shelved,' at least -- during the test phase but I don't know what to do other than to keep making them.
So to any and all listening: what would be the better approach: to have this kind of option set via the Preferences dialog, or rather by way of some context menu or pop-up menu in which you can make the selection from the main window? In any case I suppose there would have to be some kind of indication on-screen about filtering being in effect.
One workaround, of course, is to mark (via 'stars') only the raw files, then display only 'starred' files. It does add some time to the process, though. A quick 'raw files only' filter would be much faster -- and there'd be no need to do such artificial filtration. Certainly I wouldn't normally mark with 1+ star(s) just any old file. Mine certainly aren't all deserving of a star. :-)
I wonder to what extent P.O. considers comments entered in these forums -- as opposed to those submitted in the Support area (IOW, "formally" submitted feature requests or bug reports). "User-to-user" forums provide easier/faster ways to comment on the product, but I can never tell how effective they are for user-to-company feedback.0 -
Ulf, on the understanding that P1 support are not obliged to participate in the user-to-user forums, I appreciate your post and it is good to see some constructive presence here.
I understand that, in the design phase (and again through user acceptance testing, assuming there was some) that such topics were much debated within P1 and out of sight of your user base. This can give us users the impression that not much thought has gone into a feature set - ultimately we only see the end result. I do hope these features are being seriously considered and that your kind words do end up being turned into visible actions.
The cache issue is, at the moment, the thing holding me back from C1v4. I don't care much about the previews as I clean them out frequently but a central cache is crucial for how I backup both my photos and settings. Having them intermingled forces a user to backup (and re-backup) the large amount of data in RAW files if they merely want to backup their tiny settings files at any point they change (wildcards may or may not do the trick but don't inspire much confidence). It also increases the demand on the file system where the RAWs are kept, increasing the number of files by x3. Even in NTFS with a well-defragged volume and defragged MFT and metadata, this greatly slows down all directory operations on that volume (not just where the large # of files are) - a separate cache lets the user place the settings in a more appropriate place, which I currently do. However, I agree that the new structure makes a little more sense for networked users, but nothing that can't be overcome with a customisable location and reliable semaphoring/locking of the settings files in a multi-user environment.
I had also hoped to get an X-Keys device to work with the C1v4 workflow (), but this is only a realistic possibility once C1v4 has the shortcuts put back into the app. But I do look forward to an improved workflow when that day arrives.0
