Disappearing Folders list
I just upgraded to 9.1 on two Macs running El Cap. One worked, but on the other, my folder list disappeared on the Library tab. I am now left with the filter list, and the browser showing my last import.
So far the response from my case is to tell me that the folder list is under the library tab. I'm hoping that someone has had and solved this issue.

Is the filter list extensive and open?
Can you minimise it?
Does anything else change?
What is your screen resolution?
Just a few random thoughts for now to see if anything shows up.

Yes
Yes
Not that I have found yet
1050 x 1680 from memory, it's an Eizo CG222 and a 27" iMac0 -
What happens if you create a floating Library tool?
Can you then dock it?
Have you tried loading a different workspace?
It does seem odd that it works on one machine but not the other. Available vertical resolution can be an issue for some screens in standard configurations when some of the larger tools - like the filters - are open and other tools run out of screen "real estate" in which to display. There is a minimums screen resolution recommended in the release notes. You are probably on the right side of that but it might be worth checking just in case it may be having an influence here somehow.

Also - it might be worth running the verification routine to see what happens.
Was there anything special about your library list? Sort order perhaps?

Well, that was interesting. I tried to add the Library tool under the Library tab and it immediately crashes. Try it again, and it crashes again. Both machines are 27" iMacs with Eizo CG222W external monitors. Both are running El Cap. There is nothing special about the folder list. I'm far from a sophisticated user.
Anyway, Phase now have a few crash reports to look at. I might just restore from backup and leave them to it.0 -
A similar problem here. But not the only one I have with the Library tool in v9.1. Here's my list:
1) The folders are not in alphabetical order
2) ‘Sort By Name’ …
… sometimes does not sort by name. but only creates a new random order.
… removes the sorted entries from the folder tree. Close and reload to recover unsorted.
… on a 2nd folder tree in the same catalog makes the folder tree that was removed from Library re-appear without close and reload.
… sometimes causes a spinning beachball when used more than once on the same folder tree. Force quit and reload to recover.
3) Opening a catalog that was sorted by name …
… shows an unsorted folder tree after re-opening.
… sometimes causes a spinning beachball during loading. Force quit and reload to recover.
4) ‘Locate’ a moved folder does not put it into an alphabetically correct position.
5) Importing an existing catalog into a new one created with v9.1 gives no entries in the Library tool. All Filters have 0 images, there is no folder structure, and collections are empty. Close and reload doesn’t help.
6) When returning to the Library from another tool tab, the Library shows to the top of the tree. I have to scroll all the way down to the folder I actually use again.
All this seems to affect catalogs only. My last session with multiple folders was fine.
Nothing in this list happens in v9.0.3.
MBP and MBPr, CO 9.1, OS X 10.11.3, Referenced catalogs, images on USB disk(s).
Initial support case filed on march 17. I updated it with the list above and a video about disappearing content on march 18. Waiting for response.
I love all the fixes in v9.1. But my workflow is still based on folders, not keywords. Therefore I reverted to 9.0.3 for working and use 9.1 for testing the new performance of keywords and collections.[quote="NN218875UL2" wrote:

Please file a support case with a good description to make PO aware of that issue. Just crash reports are not the most effective way to report such problems.

I've given up and backed out the update. I can't hang around waiting for Phase to sort this out. I need to do some work. Thanks for your help. 0 -

Jeff,
Create a Support Case rather than only sending an anonymous crash report.
That said it seems that it is very likely that Phase are aware of the problem (or at least some aspects of it) and planning a rapid correction release.
However, in case there is more to it than they are currently aware of you may want to create a Support Case anyway.
Does it still crash if add the Library tool floating rather than under the tab?

Hi there
i know it it is to comfort
but if the photos are managed then there is no problems
so good old aperture still still works

There are similar comments in the "V9.1 Crash Prone" thread. The two common problems when opening an updated catalog in 9.1 would appear to be: the Library Tool has disappeared, even if it was present (eg under the Library tab) when the earlier and now updated version of CO was last used; trying to add the Library Tool back causes an immediate crash of the app. Has anyone encountered these problems with an earlier version of the Mac OS than the current El Capitan? 0 -
Thanks for all your support and suggestions. I included the support case number in one of the crash reports so, hopefully, that may help.
It's funny but when I went back to the earlier release, I had no library either. However, it did let me add it in without crashing.0
