Lag viewing tif files on a NAS
Opening an album with a tif inside or changing between viewing a nef and a tif takes very long. As my files are located on a NAS I observed that when C1 is beach balling it is obviously loading the complete tif from the NAS. Is this by design? Shouldn't C1 build a preview (stored in the catalog file on the internal drive) also for tif files?

It should use previews, but if screen size is large then preview size set in properties it will always regenerating it from NAS. 0 -
Preview size is set to larger screen of my 2-screen setup. Seems to be the "well known" lag in displaying layered tiffs.
It's a pity that C1 has this problem in handling layered tifs, because with all the non-destructive tools nowadays available in postprocesssing with PS or Affinity, it really makes sense to store those files and for me its crucial to have them side by side with the original raw inside one DAM solution to keep track of the files.0 -
Well, do you keep your catalog on NAS as well?
For archiving needs I do set up a separate catalog in which I store originals. But for archiving needs.
As I understands previews for TIFFs with layers, are extremely slow.0 -
As far as I know, C1 re-read the whole file (even if the preview have already been done) for TIFF. As TIFF can be pretty big and C1 lags while reading, it makes the software not responsible.
This is the same on local drive but as reading is much faster, user do not feel issues causes by these "bugs".
Fill a support case.
