Cursor(eyedropper)Problem w/White Balance Tool

I believe someone has posted the same or similar question or had the same problem before with the eyedropper tool not showing when adjusting your white balance. I have the eyedropper tool selected in the top menu and when acutally clicking on the image it changes from a eydropper to a cursor arrow. I do not ever remember this happening before and is a little frustrating. I tried trashing the preferences that someone stated to trash in a previous post and still the same. Any suggestions? Again, the eyedropper cursor should stay continuous even when touching the image to select or change your white balance, correct? Thanks and any info is appreciated.
