Screenshot .PNG file can't be imported
Hi,
some of my inspirational photographs is saved in my hard drive from screenshot made with OS X (command+4), which saves in a .PNG format.
In oder to browse into this folder, i wanted to import it in Capture One, but all these .PNG files are hidden in the import dialog.
I made a test by exporting a file already in Capture in a .PNG format but this time i was able to import it.
Are the .PNG files made by screenshot with OS X special ?
I am confused.
Regards.

According to my understanding C1 supports for import only JPEG and not PNGs.
You can export to PNG, or use it as overlay but not import it.
Hope it makes sense0 -
I don't exactly know what the issue is with PNG and CO8 Pro. I see similar issues since the beginning of CO8. I can import PNG (and edit them) when they are made by CO8. So it should be possible. See also the Global Filters (View menu) and the Preferences > Image tab which have both references to the PNG format.
However, PNGs from screenshots and PNGs that have been saved by Photoshop, either are entirely invisible for CO8 or show up in the Import dialog without thumbnail. Note that the lack of thumbnail is also true for PNGs created with CO8 and imported again.
I recall I reported this already during CO8 beta testing. I could contact Phase One again on this. I suggest the OP to make a support case. You can refer to this thread.0 -
Paul in 8.3.3 at least png are not visible by import dialog 0 -
Perhaps the problem is with the alpha channel? The PNG format supports alpha channels and C1 does not. Try opening your PNG files in something like Preview and then saving the files again as PNG, but without an alpha channel. Doing this has solved a lot of my import problems.
[Note: Lots of applications save with an alpha channel enabled by default, even with TIFF files. Autopano Giga, for example, saves my 16-bit TIFFs with an alpha channel by default and C1 won't recognize those files. Changing the export settings to disable the alpha channel makes C1 much happier.]0 -
JB, thank you very much for your suggestion. Had not thought of the alpha channel.
I created a screenshot with Preview, saved it with alpha box unchecked. CO 8.3.3 does not see it in the Import dialog.0
