A Single folder application: cannot believe it ! ?
This enormous bug as already been noted by others but is certainly the worst thing to see when you are ready to use your software (I did not encounter any installation problems on W7 64 bits I must say).
It is impossible to get the contents of two differents folders displayed at the same time in Media Pro !
Control + click on 2 or more folders just show an empty pannel instead of showing all medias as before. This alone makes Media Pro unusable... How can a bug like this pass the tests, I still wonder and I am waiting for a fix very soon. I bought this upgrade immediately without thinking, it has a few of the features I was waiting for but the list of things to improve is still very long (for example moving files from one folder to another does not move "accompanying" XMP files along - a thing that Lightroom does effortlessly).
More tests and more work is visibly needed on this very good software, and Phase One can certainly do it, but please begin with this incomprehensible defect.
Thanks for reading.

Huh? Sure it is a defect, but honestly, how often does one need that? Workaround is not too difficult either: create a catalog set, and drag the pictures of each folder on it.
I usually assign either an event or a catalog set to the images when I import them. Even then I mostly don't need the folder navigation either, I just use Find=>Last import. The catalog folders panel is an auxiliary tool for the few cases where you really need a technical grouping of your images instead of a content-based, logical one. The application is absolutely usable when that component has a glitch0 -
Frankly, Rainer, very often! And I doubt Patrick needs lecturing on how to use catalog sets any more than I do. 0 -
I've just installed Media Pro and discovered the same problem -- Mac OSX 10.6.7. Hopefully we will see a fix.
I used this feature all of the time in iView and Expression Media. One example (of many possible uses): I have two folders, one with NEFs and another with jpgs I've created from the NEFs. With 10.6, Expression Media no longer rendered the NEFs to show the edits I've made in Capture NX2 but the jpgs did render properly. I wanted to open both folders in a single window so I could see if Media Pro had addressed the issue by viewing the thumbnails side by side but was given a blank screen instead.

I use this functionality quite frequently. Probably three to four times per work session. I need to see the main folder and the sub folder simultaneously. Or, I need to see a group of three folders from a specific shoot. Not having this capability is creating havoc in my workflow. 0 -
Wow that is a problem for us too! We can't upgrade to MP until that gets fixed. 0 -

Anyone had some answers from Phase One?
Yes. I raised this as a support case. Was asked to supply a screen shot and did so and have had confirmation that they can recreate the issue and it is with the developers to resolve. Until a developer can do this it's difficult to fix any problem, so maybe your description wasn't clear enough.
Anyway the support case has been marked as finished. Don't know when the fix will come, Phase One will have to decide which fixes get in to a release and freeze the development to produce v1.01 and then get back on with fixing the next set of issues.
My only hope is that when the next version comes out it too has a full 30 day trial period.

I've not looked at your movie, so can't comment on it.
Actually I would guess that the support team is rather swamped at the moment. It may be that they looked at my case before yours - mine was created after yours - or they haven't grouped all of the similar cases together. If you're swamped then reviewing a movie takes more time than an image so this could be a reason for the delay on your case?
As a software developer myself I know that sometimes when swamped it's too easy to cherry pick the "easy" issues as it does make you feel that you're getting on top of the issues. I don't know how big their development team is but I would guess it's not more than a handful of staff. They've also got to maintain a suitable level of support for their other products.
I've raised 6 cases with Phase One so far and 2 have been "finished", 2 have had replies to which I've answered further questions / supplied more screenshots, and 2 have had no reply yet. We'll just have to wait.
Complaining loudly isn't going to get things fixed any quicker, although I do agree that sometimes it makes us feel better!

I agree, but judging by the deafening silence of PhaseOne I'd say they are shell shocked at the moment rather than swamped, 😉0 -
^^^^ Perhaps... I guess this is what happens when you release software that isn't ready for Beta yet... 0 -
I agree about the not yet ready - more like pre beta.....
Its a really nice piece of software and has fantactic potential - but it still has a loooong way to go to get it up to standard.0
