Work flow recommendation for newbie

Having moved on from Aperture (and LR), let me suggest that you first become familiar with Capture One by using the webinairs and other outline sources. Your workflow and digital management approach will be to some extent influenced by the array of tools available in Capture One and may be, as it happened to me, by the power available in the adjustments you can make.

First be aware that as of this moment Capture One v 12 has not been cleared for use under Mojave. No worries. Many of us are not having problems.

Second do use the ability of Capture One to import an Aperture library and practice on one of those. Or Go into the Aperture "library" contents and simply copy a number of raw or whatever originals and import them into Capture One so you can begin to see what you can do.

But practice first before you begin to spend the time of moving your existing Aperture and LR materials. Its not that Capture One is that hard to use. Its because your images and your time deserve some experience.

Actually the release notes say that Mojave (that is MacOS 10.14) is supported up to 10.14.1. But it is true that many of us are using 10.14.2 with no apparent problems.

    My libraries are:

1 Aperture 3 (version 3.6) ca. 600gb on iMac (yosemite)
1 Lightroom 6.14 size 600gb on iMac (yosemite)
1 Lightroom 6.14 size 700 gb on MacBook pro (yosemite)

    [......]

    1. Do I upgrade Mac Operating System to Mohaje BEFORE trying to import?
    2. Do I download Capture One Pro 12 using existing Yosemite OS (I have the download link having purchased the software) or wait until I upgrade the Mac OS to Mohave and then
    3. Does Capture One flag duplicates and given the size of these libraries what is the most sensible way to start?

    1. This is a significant quantity of images. I would suggest to import your catalogues little by little, for instance by splitting your Aperture and LR libraries, as I am not sure Capture One would be able to swallow all this stuff at once. I switched from LR to C1 4 years ago, and at this time I had only a 500 Gb LR library. It took a long, long time (a full night) and I lost some pictures in the import process, that I had to import in a further step.
    2. I am not sure Yosemite can support Capture One 12.

Have you seen that the Capture One YouTube channel has a webinar devoted to migrating from Lightroom?

COP 12 will not run nor install on macos El Capitan or older, like Yosemite.
On my MBP it runs smoothly on High Sierra.

Before upgrading you may will check the hardware compatibility with Mojave since they have limited it to more recent hardware. My older Macbook Pro, early 2011, has reached it's end with High Sierra ...

You'll find the answers for your specific hardware here: https://support.apple.com/kb/SP777?view ... cale=en_US
