Cannot change Tools

While I am working with a session and I have pretty full folders (always try to keep them under 300 pics) It happens I cannot change tools, neither by clicking nor by keyboard shortcuts.

This happens not always but from time to time (especially annoying when I try to show a crop to a client)
. Waiting does not help, nor changing files or folders.

For now I can only resolve this by restarting C1

C1 V 7.1.4
retina display MBP 15" Mac OS 10.8.5. (thanks guys for warning about Maverick)
16 GB Ram, SSD Disk

  That happens to me as well. If you hit the space bar when that happens your tool will work again

  If you also lost your mouse cursor/pointer, switch application or click another app and return to CO7.
