    I do not get that.
Now even if you made image B&W still color editor creates mask as it is a color version. As B&W filter works after Colour Editor.
However if you create B&W by setting saturation to 0, then Colour Editor, it still now work, as Color Editor does not sense gray ☹️

Thank you so much for your answer Andriy
In fact I actually meant a different thing and I apologize if I was not clear enough ☹️
Let consider a portrait and assume that you want to make an adjusment that affect mainly the skin, instead of paiting the mask you could create a B&W version of the image increasing at max the red and yellow adn reducing all the other channels (in this way the skin should get white) and use this B&W version as a mask the allow your adjustments to affect mainly or even only the skin
In a similar way you could create the mask the best fit yr needs in a easier and faster way instead of paiting it by hand ... ins't it?
    Many thanks

Why not just make a pick on the on skin with the Advanced Color Editor?

    Thank you Christian 😊
You're absolutly right and what you say is perfect for the example I used (that it seems it was not the best one) but my concern is that this method is on/off: you pick a color on the agjusments affect the selected area only ... but for example if you consider a landscape image using a b&w version as a mask your adjustments will apply to the whole image but in a graduated way depending on the luma value of each pixel, and this could be very useful in certain situation
