is there a way I can get the background in black and white, but keep the color of the flame and tree on the picture on the link below?

Yes, use the Color Editor, Saturation, set to -100.

You should draw what you want to change, that is the part in your image surrounding the tree, in your layer and apply the correction mentioned above.

Thanks. But I can't adjust saturation in color editor. Saturation is greyed out, when I have layer active. Only when I have background active, saturation can be adjusted. ?

You have to use the advanced color editor and use the plucker of which color you want to edit, then you can edit the color.

Ok, looks like that might work. I'll try it out. Thank you!
