Colour changes between C1 LE and Photoshop
Hi I am using C1 LE and PS7, when I convert a file in C1 and then open it in PS there is a slight, difference in colour there is a loss of saturation and contrast in the images, I have looked around as much as I can but I cant seem to find whats causing it.
My monitor is calibrated using the pantone colorplus spyder 2
I am using the following settings in C1
Camera product = 20D
Profile 20D Generic
Output destination Adobe RGB (1998)
Monitor profile = colour plus
Unlock monitor profile box is unticked
windows profile = colour plus
Colour settings for PS are
Settings = Custom
RGB = adobe 1998
CMYK = Euroscale coated v2
gray = Phase one profile 2,2
spot = dot grain 20%
RGB Preserve embedded profiles and the same with cmyk
gray = off
Profile mismatch = Ask when opening and pasting
Engine = adobe ace
Intent = releative colormetric
use black point copensation is ticked as is use dither
Does anyone know where I am going wrong as there is definatley a diffeence between the files in C1 and PS.
Chris

Yes, I see the same thing where the color changes that are made in C1 aren't quite accurately represented in Photoshop CS2. And I have a color calibrated environment as well. Often I have to increase saturation in PS CS2 to get what I saw in C1.
One thing you can try is to photograph a color chart or create a test shot with a variety of color and grey scale objects. Make sure you WB for the light in C1.
Measure the RGB values for some of the specific values and see what you get for these objects in PS CS2. Make sure that you use the same color space for both applications.
Keep in mind, that in C1, you're generally looking at a 3 MB jpeg as a preview image. More accurate color and sharpness can be examined on the Focus tab. However, you can't measure RGB values in the preview window.
I expect to see improvements in the whole \"preview thing\" once C1 4.0 ships.

The most often overlooked setting when comparing images in Photoshop is the soft proof setting of Photoshop.
Default is CMYK, so if you have not changed this to be the exact same profile used for Capture One, you will see a great difference in color and thus be comparing Apples to Oranges

I have updated the soft Proof feature in PS.
Under Colour Settings in PS7 I have no option at the top with the drop down menu to select Phase One workflow it just is no there.
I have
Colour Managment off
Emulate Photoshop 4
Europe prepress Defaults
Japan Prepress Defaults
Photoshop 5 Default spaces
US Prepress Defaults
Untitled
Web Graphic Defaults
I have no Phase One Profile is this normal and if not how do I correct it?
Thanks

Further to the above I have now tried downloading capture one to my dads computer which has PS CS, this does not seem to pick up the phase one raw workflow under colour settings - settings either.
I have searched elsewhere on the net and cant find anything regarding this.
In Capture one under colour settings I also am not able to select proof destination is this also normal?
Please could someone help me as I am really confused by this and I have been trying to get it sorted for ages now.
Thanks

Make sure the soft proof setting is selected in Capture One not Photoshop. its the rainbow looking icon in the top menu bar next to B&W preview. [/img] 0 -
Yep that icon is definitely selected. 0 -
Chris_h,
This icon is the Color Management On/Off setting.
A Right + click on this icon will bring up the Color Management Settings window.
LE does not have the Proof Destination.
For correcting color you will set the Destination ( Working Space) to the desired profile.
Photoshop > View > Proof Setup MUST be the same profile used in Capture One and they should match.

Thank you for your help keith,
I seem to have a much better match now, I do have a couple more questions.
In Capture One under Output Destination (working Space there are two Adobe RGB (1998) options do I select the first or the second one or are they both the same.
My second question under Photoshop Proof Setup do I select Adobe RGB (1998) or do I select Working RGB-Adobe RGB (1998).
Hopefully someone can help me as I am still a little confused by the difference.0 -
I also have noticed that after the RAW file is color corrected and converted to JPEG, the said JPEG file shows slight color difference when opened in CS2. Basically, I was comparing side by side the JPEG in CS2 to the color-corrected RAW file in C1 LE preview window. The RAW file in C1 LE preview window shows a more vibrant red color to it.
The following is the output destination (working space) setting in C1 LE:
sRGB IEC61966-2.1
I have set the Proof Setup in Photoshop CS2 as follows:
Device to Simulate: sRGB IEC61966-2.1
Preserve RGB Numbers: checked (also tried "unchecked" but it made no difference)
Preview: checked
After setting the above parameters, I still notice the difference in RAW file preview in C1 LE and the resulting JPEG in CS2.
Any idea what other setting I should be looking at?
Thanks in advance.
