Monitor Calibration Software

Quite a general question, without information about your hardware.

Monitor calibration is a hardware/software game. You monitor and your calibration device plus the software interact.

The monitor may support hardware calibration, like the Eizo ColorEdge and some NEC models among others. You might want to use their software or from a 3rd party that support hardware calibration. Next, the calibration device must be supported by the selected software.

If you like to calibrate your Apple display or non-hardware calibrated monitor, almost any software that supports your calibration device can do the trick, including the software that came with the device. X-Rite and DataColor are known brands, as are basICColor and ColorEyes.

I use the Eizo software for my ColorEdge monitor and X-Rite i1Profiler software for the Apple LCD. Happy with it.

Sorry - you're right, the question was vague and maybe misdirected.
I was really trying find out if there was a PhaseOne "preferred" or supported method - if so, which software/hardware.
I use Macs/LED Displays. Thanks for your helpful info.

Thanks, I now understand your question better. As far as I know there is not preferred method. Monitor calibration is a task that is handled at OS X or operating system level. Any application - like Capture One - that uses this information gets it from OS X and that's it.

i would recommend the i1monitor pro as hardware with the i1profiler software or the new basiccolor display 5, there is a free trail available on their website.

I've just bought Colormunki Photo as I can use it to calibrate my monitors, and perform printer calibration with one unit. It can also take a spot colour reading from a physical item.

It seems pretty good, you can calibrate multiple monitors with it and the software is pretty straightforward.
