Just Started - Need Help

Hi. I just started using Capture One Express. Of course, I read all the tutorials and manual first before resorting to posting a question. This may be really simple, but I can't seem to figure out why my pictures look very different when importing them into Capture One. I took the original raw photo in SLOG2 profile, but it looks very different when importing to Capture One. Thought maybe it had to do with the ICC Profile, but changing it to "no color correction" didn't change it much.

I've attached a picture to demonstrate what I'm talking about. Original raw SLOG2 photo on the right, and Capture One imported same raw photo on the left.

    I may be mistaken, but my understanding is Slog2 (normally used for video) can be used for still images and only gets applied in-camera to jpegs. So the review image on the camera LCD would show the effects of the Slog2 profile (and any jpegs if shooting raw plus jpeg), while Capture One would not show it when displaying the raw file.

    Thanks for your reply. Can anyone confirm if he is correct? Or if there's a way to show SLOG2 on Capture One? I was hoping to shoot SLOG2 picture profile still images for easier color matching with my SLOG2 videos.

    If you would rather shoot your stills in raw rather than jpeg I suggest using the linear response profile in Capture One and then creating a curves adjustment that would mimic the Slog2 gamma curve.

    I shoot Jlog with my JVC video camera to achieve the added dynamic range. The challenge during processing is to make the video look normal again, since the files are very flat and somewhat de-saturated. JVC provides daylight and tungsten LUTs that can be applied during processing to assist in this. Perhaps Sony does as well. Occasionally I will integrate still images into a video production. And if the video was shot using Jlog I would be editing the video to match the stills.
