General Topic: Geometric Lens Distortion
Hello Capture One Team,
I use Capture One Pro 8 with my Nikon D800 and I appreciate a lot the software. Although there is one wish open. I use several lenses, all not very valuable like the AF Zoom-Nikkkor 35-70/3,3-4,5 Macro or other similar lenses. I would like to have automatic lens distortions corrections on these lenses (for architectural images). Is there any way to create these profiles on his own?
Regards
Jakob

No, you can not make profiles and add them to the built-in lens profile database. However, you can manually create settings (obviously) and store them as a preset. 0 -
It'd great if Capture One could use the PTLens database. It has about 2400 lenses (including yours) and the quality is good, at least better than what I can achieve with CO's adjustments. For example lenses with complex moustache distortion can't be corrected with one slider.
You can send the author test images and he will add your lens to the database. The chances that Phase One would have time to add legacy/consumer/gimmick lenses to their profiles are very low.
Capture One could separate these lens profiles from its own somehow. That way the user would be aware that he is not using Phase One made software and they should not be responsible for the results. Kind of the same situation as with applescripts (in mac version). There's the Scripts menu but you can't get any help from the support team (which is ok by me).
This connection to the PTLens database would easily allow the lens correction for the rest of us, in the right place of the workflow. At present you don't have the capabilities of a raw file anymore if you want to continue with the corrected image back in CO (like cropping, highlight recovery, perspective correction, sharpening etc).
