Capture One 3.7.7 previews degraded
since installing the capture one pro 3.7.7 upgrade, the quality of the preview image has been deplorable. the preview moire overwhelms the fine patterns
has anyone else noticed this or more importantly found a solution? i would switch back to 3.7.6 for the time being, but I've already switched to the p45 plus and there is no going back.
a bit about the equipment....
macbook pro 17" 2.33ghz
using also a 23in cinema hd display
shooting a p45 plus h101 to card

I've found this too.
I put it down to my move to Mac, and not having the same preview generation settings, but I could be wrong.
I went from 3.7.6 on PC to 3.7.7 on OS X. But I'm shooting with D200, not a Phase One back (as much as i'd like too 😉 )

Alex,
Previews are indeed a better quality on the PC.

The size and quality varies by camera model.
A Preview IS a Preview, and used for general adjustments.
For critical analysis of an image always use the Focus Tool / Show Focus Utility which will become a floating display you can resize.
The Good News is, The Preview quality will improve and build 300% faster in version upgrade 4.0 due later this year.

i am doing comparisons between images shot on the p45 plus and p45 viewed on both capture one pro 3.7.6 and 3.7.7.
there is a significant decrease in preview quality. my client of 2 years is now having trouble viewing brocade patterns on fabric. we constantly have to explain that the artifacting is only on the preview. i understand that i can use the focus tool and enlarge the window, but that doesnt fix the immediate impression the client has when seeing moire and digital artifacts.0 -
Snapwolfe,
I also noticed moires I did not have in 3.7.6.
Something changed...0 -
Processing an image in the new 3.7.7's "high" mode creates an image that is around one stop darker than what is shown in the preview.
I can explain moires to my clients, but if my exposures are wrong because of an incorrect preview, this is a much more serious problem.
Has anyone else had the same problem?
OS 10.4.9
Capture One 3.7.7
