Feature request: Edit lock button

Perhaps there is a way already to do this, but I would like a radio button that when checked locks any further edits to a selected image. After checked to make an edit, either a variant has to be started or the unlock button needs to be clicked first.

    I think there is no way to do this, but it sounds like a great idea to me. Why not create a support case for the sake of making a feature request?
