Why did CO forget my settings?

    Mike,

As long as the Session remains in active in Permanent Collection
the .C1w files should remain intact.
These files reside in the Preview Cache and unless they are cleaned out, they contain the image adjustment data.
Check Preferences settings for Save Options.

    See Forum Discussion:

    Thanks, Keith

In Preferences > Save Options, I have Save on Exit ticked, and Save when changing Collection ticked.

I have .C1w files in C:\\Program Files \\ Phase ONE \\ Capture One PRO \\ Previews that go back to May, so I expect the data are still there.

Do I need to add every new capture folders as a Permanent Collections if I don't want CO to lose the association between the C1w files and the RAW files?

The folder in question was not declared a Permanent Collection. How can I re-associate those .C1w files with the RAW files?

    Mike,

I worked on a Session that was not added as Permanent and the adjusment data was still saved and applied.
I'm stumped... you have the same Save settings I do.. which are the default.
Your image adjustments should have been saved to the cache files.

If you look at the meta data (Ctrl + I ) information window at the bottom
you will see the Settings File name for the .C1w and they can be searched for to locate.

were they moved? overwritten ? ... sorry I'm out of ideas here... 😕

No, no -- the problem is not yours, Keith: you were working from bad information I gave you. After putting that session to bed for a week or so, I moved on to another. In the second session I did a lot more adjusting, cropping, etc., than I did in the first. I got used to seeing crops and stuff. When I went back to the first, I didn't see all the manipulation that I was used to, so I thought CO had forgotten everything. I was wrong -- the metadata clearly shows the settings file.

My bad. I'll move along now. Thanks for your help and sorry for the waste of time.

If you're looking for something else to do right now, maybe we can take a look at my question of Nov 22, "Cropping and Processing to desired size"

I bet it's pretty easy to answer.
